Thalaam is one of those bosses who relies on close-range attacks but also uses projectiles to keep your focus. If you know how he attacks and can react correctly, you can take charge of the fight and avoid taking extra damage.
Boss Location and Overview
At the end of Kalina's Night Day, you meet Thalaam. He is a flying enemy who fights up close and uses ranged attacks to help them. The fight is based on hits that happen in a particular order and change as he gets weaker.

First Phase Attacks and Strategy
In the first phase, Thalaam employs a stampede attack, moving in a straight line across the arena. He can repeat this up to three times in a row. You can attack him after the final charge or during the brief charge-up window before each stampede, which lasts about two seconds.
Another attack involves a sequence of jumps followed by ground slams. Each slam targets a limited area, but the tracking can mislead you, so you should roll away before he lands.
After each slam, you can land one or two hits, keeping in mind that the move will repeat several times in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
Between these actions, Thalaam may throw a single fireball. This projectile moves slowly, and simple movement is enough to avoid it.
He can also charge a large area-of-effect explosion that covers most of the arena. You should attack briefly during the charge and then move away. Rolling at the last moment allows you to avoid the explosion.

Shield Phase Mechanics
After you deal around twenty percent damage, Thalaam moves to the center of the arena and gains a shield. Purple projectiles appear around him. You must destroy these projectiles and throw them back at Thalaam using your backpack to damage the shield.
Between each projectile throw, Thalaam performs a different attack. First, he emits shockwaves that you must jump over. Next, he throws fire projectiles that explode after a short delay, marked by red circles on the ground.
He then alternates between these two attacks while you attempt to land the final projectile. You should always wait for the shockwave to take effect before acting in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
Second Phase Changes
Thalaam starts his second phase and moves around the field again as soon as the shield is broken. All the attacks that preceded this one are still ongoing, but they now yield different results.
His stampede now leaves a fire trail that remains briefly, and he performs four stampedes instead of three. Each jump-and-slam attack now includes multiple fire projectiles that explode after a delay.
You can still attack between stampedes, but landing hits during the slam sequence depends on your position and the location of the fire explosions. During this attack, focusing on dodging is the safer option.

Laser Attack and Openings
Thalaam gains a new laser attack in this phase. A targeting line appears before the laser fires, giving you time to reposition. The laser moves slowly, allowing you to avoid it by rolling rather than jumping if space allows.
Staying close to Thalaam during this attack is useful, as he becomes vulnerable for a short time after the laser ends in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
Final Phase Adjustments
When Thalaam loses around sixty percent of his health, he moves to the center again, but the mechanic changes. A small fireball lands somewhere in the arena and creates a shockwave that you must jump over.
From this point on, Thalaam continues to use his second-phase attacks, and the added shockwave appears repeatedly until the fight ends.
You should prioritize tracking this shockwave, as it interferes with other mechanics in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
When Thalaam reaches low health, he regains his shield. You must once again destroy purple projectiles and throw them at him with your backpack while he continues using all previous attacks. Wait for immediate threats to resolve before throwing each projectile.

Rewards
Defeating Thalaam grants you two loot chests and the Alabaster Candle. This item completes the Blacksmith’s task New Days, Broken Tech and is used to craft the Sun And Moon Ballad weapon.
