Here’s a guide on how to defeat Tyke in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

Tyke spends most of the fight in the air, which limits how you can hurt him and forces you to use ammo that you get from calling in enemies. The fight has projectile patterns, hazards, and phase-based arena changes that require careful placement and timing.

Boss Location and Overview

You encounter Tyke at the end of your run in the Treasury Halls, the second area of The Gallery. Throughout most of the fight, he remains in the air, which means you can only damage him directly with your gun. Learning his attack patterns and knowing when to recharge ammo is essential.

First Phase Attacks and Strategy

Tyke calls two monsters at the beginning of the fight. You should defeat them quickly to charge your ammo, then use a few shots on the boss. During this time, Tyke flies in straight paths across the arena, creating explosions beneath him. Avoid standing in his path to stay safe.

He also uses a ground-based attack marked by nine circles. If you are caught within these circles and cannot move away in time, roll just before the explosions trigger, as your roll grants invulnerability frames in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

During these attacks, Tyke may throw an explosive that detonates after a delay, creating a shockwave.  To avoid damage, you have to jump from the Shockwake. Another attack involves a laser fired through two portals, shown by a red targeting line. Roll across the laser to avoid being hit.

You gain a melee damage window when Tyke throws a large purple ball. Hit it using your backpack to send it back. This causes Tyke to fall into the center of the arena, leaving him open to direct attacks for a short time.

Enhanced First Phase Pattern

After recovering, Tyke resumes his earlier attacks and adds a new one: a barrage of pink fireballs. Position yourself near the bottom-left side of the arena and move slightly up or down to avoid the projectiles as they approach.

Once you deal around thirty percent damage, the arena changes and transitions into the next phase in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.

Second Phase Arena and Attacks

The arena becomes divided into four squares. Tyke begins this phase by throwing another large purple ball, but this time, he sends it back when you hit it. You must continue reflecting it with your backpack until it successfully strikes him.

Following this, Tyke resumes his standard attacks, including lasers, explosions, and minion spawns, but with increased speed and frequency.

He also introduces a new move where he throws four projectiles onto the ground. Each creates a shockwave upon detonation and detonates separately. Roll through each shockwave individually, as jumping is required to clear them safely.

Final Phase Arena Changes

After Tyke loses about 60% of his health, the arena changes again. The floor now forms a nine-square layout. During this stage, pink-marked sections of the floor vanish, creating empty spaces between the platforms. If you don't want to fall, you need to think about your moves ahead of time.

You need to roll between squares to avoid attacks and reach the location where Tyke throws the purple ball. During this phase, he reflects the ball multiple times before sending it to a different square. You must reach that square quickly, as the remaining platforms will vanish.

At times, Tyke removes all platforms except the one you are standing on and immediately fires a laser. When this happens, roll from one side of the platform to the other to avoid damage in Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault.
