Key Support Skills for Japanese Farming

There is a collection of support skills that can greatly increase the amount of JP you gain in battle. The first and most helpful one is Life in the Shadows, used in Throné's Thief class. With it, EXP and gained JP in night battles are doubled, making it a wonderful farming session during night hours. In order to apply it to other characters, you must master their Thief skills.

More Rare Monsters is also a support key skill in Ochette's Hunter class. The skill increases the chances of encountering uncommon creatures such as Caits and Octopuffs that provide a high amount of JP when you kill them. As such creatures are one of the richest in-game sources of JP, wearing this skill increases farming efficiency to a large extent.

Lastly, Hard Worker, a support skill of Agnea's Dancer class, rewards you with more JP per battle. With many team members wearing it, stacking is impossible, though when combined with Life in the Shadows, it's a wonderful synergy for more JP gain.

Using Arrow of Fortune for More JP

Partitio's Merchant class has an ability called Arrow of Fortune, which rewards more JP based on damage caused. The stronger you strike, the more JP you get, making it a useful option in long battles when you can use high-damage attacks. While it is not suitable for every battle, it is a convenient option for farming weak mobs or bosses that can withstand many attacks.

Hunting Caits and Octopuffs

Beating up on Caits and Octopuffs is one of the quickest ways to farm up JP in a hurry. The creatures are uncommon, though, and yield a great amount of JP and experience points when killed. The creatures are nervous creatures that tend to flee when threatened, making it of the utmost importance to dispose of them in a hurry.

The use of Elemental Soulstones is a great way of killing them because it eradicates the need for large elemental attack quantities. Large Soulstones work wonders because their low HP means that even weak attacks can annihilate them.

For a better chance of encountering these uncommon creatures, equip More Rare Monsters to Ochette and use such consumables as Octopuff Pot and Cait Powder. Whether or not equipping multiple instances of these items stacks their effect is not known, though it is a good idea to play around to find out what is most useful.

Osvald and Ochette work wonders when used to farm up Caits and Octopuffs. Osvald's high-leveled Elemental Attack is a great character to use when it comes to dishing up massive magical attacks, whilst Ochette's support skill of Heightened Senses raises chances of acting in battle, giving you a better chance to take out these slippery creatures before they get away.

Obtaining the JP Augmentor Accessories

Getting the JP Augmentor accessory is a requirement if you want to maximize your JP farming. The accessory increases your JP gain per battle, making grinding that much speedier when paired with support talents such as Hard Worker and Life in the Shadows.

The JP Augmentor is located in the Cavern of Waves, a side dungeon accessible from Toto'haha's Beasting Bay in Anchorage. To get there, move east on shore, up to the northern side of a vegetation-filled archway. After docking on a small island, approach up to the tunnel, turn to the left beyond the save point, and take the stairs to get your reward.

Final Thoughts

Optimizing JP gain in Octopath Traveler II is a matter of utilizing beneficial support skills, hard-to-reach monster farming, and key gear. With Life in the Shadows, More Rare Monsters, and Hard Worker active, you can dramatically boost your Japanese revenue. In addition, killing Caits and Octopuffs using Octopuff Pot and Cait Powder will earn you massive JP rewards.

Lastly, using the JP Augmentor will enable you to maximize each battle. With these methods, your team will be a force to be reckoned with in a short period, enabling you to earn great powers and face up to the game's hardest challenges.
