Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven Guide | Best Classes

The Coolest classes in the game

Game Guide by Arne on  Dec 08, 2024

Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven has over 30 classes to choose from, with most being different shades of good and decent. However, some stand out as the best of the best. Now, in Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven, classes serve a very integral purpose, being the main component in your exploration, fighting, and even yourself.

With so many classes, you probably won't even have the time to unlock them all in a single playthrough. So, here are some of the most useful classes in the game, as well as some of the least useful ones. At certain points, there are some exceptions, with characters that have a different weapon proficiency or talent. This makes

S Tier

Some of the top tier classes in the game are the Dancer, Ninja, Final Emperor, Blacksmith, and Strategist. They are just the best in all cases without any buts.

Final Emperor: The strongest class in the game, with the highest stats and extra slots. They're incredibly versatile, and their specifics vary depending on the playthrough. The final emperor is mentioned first because they are an outlier more than anything since they are only available for the endgame and post-endgame content.

Dancer: The Dancer uses Hydro/Water magic and is either proficient with a bow or a shortsword, depending on their gender. This class is extremely fast-paced and has high Dexterity. They are great options for archers as well as casters.

The Dancer needs to be unlocked near the midgame, though, since you need to wait a few generations to complete their quest. The Dancer's ability, Penny Pincher, is also really good since it recovers 25% of the Overdrive Gauge after a unit makes a United Attack.

You don't need to do anything special for them. They grow well in the late game and are just overall good.

Ninja: The Ninja is another high Dexterity class. However, their main perk is their martial arts ability, which is higher than most classes. They also don't suffer from any deficiencies in other stats, with a high Strength and Speed gain. You can get them as early as Gerard, and they will remain reliable until the end of the game. Their unlockable ability is Analysis, which can boost damage to incredible heights. To unlock the Ninja, you need to fight through Chonto Castle.

Strategist: The Strategist is a rather unique class. Their MO is hard to pin. Like most of the high-tier classes, they have high levels of speed and magic. This makes them naturally good as casters. You need to fight Bokhon and complete the university to gain access to them, so you'll need to wait a while to sue them.

Their ability slightly increases spell damage, which is deceptively good. On paper, it doesn't do too much, but it really adds up throughout boss fights. They are highly versatile and can be a part of any magic school you want.

Imperial Blacksmith: Another new class that actually isn't one of the speedsters. A physical and strength-based class that can deal with absurd amounts of DPS. They also have access to fire and earth magic. You can also gain access to them fairly early into the game.

Their special ability confirms their role further by giving them boosts to their weapon damage and armor. Overall, they are your go-to tanky DPS.

A Tier

Now, at A tier, the classes aren't really bad. They're still some of the best in the game. However, the ones above outshine them, so here we are.

Heavy Infantry: The ever-reliable heavy infantry is, unfortunately, only A tier because of the existence of the Blacksmith. They are physical all-rounders with high stamina… scratch that; they have the highest stamina amongst all the classes. They also have high HP and Physical Defense. Their ability to Auto-Parry makes them even more tanky.

Their low Strength is hard to mitigate, but early in the game, they are going to be a corner piece in your retinue. They contrast Blacksmiths as they are the ultimate tanks, while Blacksmiths are more of the damage-dealing class.

Iris: A unique class that is somewhat of a mirror to Strategists. You can actually use them in the place of Strategists. They have high Magic and Speed at the cost of having low Reason. Their ability isn't the best, but that doesn't really matter since they're just that good.

Imperial Guard: Imperial Guards are great, regardless of their gender. Males have some of the highest Strength in the game, netting them incredible DPS. In contrast, female ones are even more tanky. With the correct build, they can become nearly unkillable.

Remember, though, that specialization is key, so instead of making them generalists, you should try to make them more tanks or DPS.

Crusader: The Crusaders are unique in the sense that they can dish out high amounts of physical and magical damage. This only varies depending on their gender. The male is a physical heavyweight who does all the jobs of most of the mid-tier physical classes while having good support options.

The female, on the other hand, is an exceptional caster who specializes in light magic. Both of their abilities are great, and they naturally excel due to their weaknesses, which can be supplemented by other methods.

Ranger: In the utility class, rangers are proficient in quite a few weapons, giving you options to choose from. Naturally, this varies based on whether they are male or female. Of course, regardless of options, they have consistently high Dexterity and are great as ranged DPS.

Overall, the Female version is a bit better thanks to the Corruptor ability, which increases the chances of inflicting status effects by 50%. In layman's terms, this makes techs and spells that have procs do better overall. The Male Ranger gets Ruiner, which extends the duration of statuses. His ability is still decent but remains variable. Rangers are good at targeting specific enemies with abilities such as Shadow Shot.

B Tier

B-tier certainly doesn't represent 'bad,' more like fairly decent and regular. The top classes of the B tier can always give the A Tiers a run for their money. However, since there are a lot, we'll be glossing over them.

Saigo Clansman: A heavy infantry class that has a lopsided stat base, giving you a really strong tank that can do little else. They benefit from using maces and generally do well in that specific role.

Mole: The mole is a class that's hard to grasp. They have high Dex and are very competent support casters. Alternatively, they can excel at mid-game DPS.

Salamander: The Salamander is similar to the crusader class, almost better than them due to their heavy weapons and magic. Despite being one of the best frontlines, they are low in B Tier due to the fact that you lose out on dark magic if you get them.

Court Mage: The usual 'wizard' class. Weak as glass but capable of dishing out high amounts of DPS, as well as having a lot of support capabilities. You start out with them, so they're useful from the start.

Brawler: The Brawler is actually one of the better classes in B Tier. However, they lack speed, and martial arts really depend on speed. If you need early-game DPS, they are a good choice, but their usefulness falls off pretty early into the game.

Hunter: The Hunters are basically just a light version of the Ranger. They have an insane Dexterity score at the cost of pretty much everything else. If you have a good frontline, keep them for a decent boost to your DPS.

Depending on specific circumstances, there are obviously more classes and even more uses for those close
