Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven Guide | How to Unlock Every Class

With so many options, you'd want to catch them all

Game Guide by Arne on  Nov 28, 2024

In the wonderful remake of the Romancing SaGa 2, you have access to over 30 classes. These classes are very similar to the ones in the base game, and only a few are new additions. Since the game has a generational progression, you will not really have close ties with specific characters, instead relying more on the classes themselves. Of course, each class has its first representative.

Unlocked Classes

You will start the game off with six classes unlocked. Additionally, by the time you get to Gerald, you will have unlocked an additional two classes. Most of the classes are split between male and female versions, each with a different weapon proficiency and magic proficiency.

Heavy Infantry, Light Infantry, and Ranger are available from the start of the game. Once Gerard becomes emperor, you will unlock the Court Mage and Mercenary classes, too.

Other Classes

Now, onto all the other classes. You will probably unlock a lot of these throughout the game. However, you are bound to miss some; hence, they are marked as optional.

Freelance Mage: You need to build and develop the Incantations Lab.

Imperial Guard: Have nine territories or higher under the empire.

Vagabond: Complete the 'Avalaon's Cat Burglar Quest. You need to help the cat and use their secret route into the Canal Fortress. Naturally, you need to do this within one generation.

Strategist: Construct the Imperial University and speak with the aptly named Strategist. You then need to meet the Nomads in the Steppe and accept their quest to destroy the Landship. This will prompt you to go to the Strategist, and from there, you need to complete the quest and kill Bokhon.

Nomad: Similar to the path above, you need to completely wipe out the Landship.

Imperial Blacksmith: The new class in the remake, you need to build the Smithy and complete the 'Pride of the Fabri Family' quest. Doing so will unlock the class.

Martial Artist: Speak with the people in Nibel and, from there, be prompted to speak with the Martial Artist in the Dragon Lair. Help him and kill the initial boss in the Fiend's Cloister. Go back to him and then clear Fiend's Cloister. If you don't do that, you can also duel him to have a chance of him joining your retinue.

Saigo Clansmen: Complete the affiliated quests' Retaking the Trade Route' and 'The Mus' Migration.'

Crusader: You need to complete the issue in Cumberland. Prevent the issue and complete the quest regarding Seyfried.

Hunter: Complete the Nightmare in the Savannah quest in Ostro. When the termites attack, follow them and defeat the queen. Speak to the hunter afterward.

Mole: Pretty much unlocked alongside the hunter; you need to save the moles from the termites. After you complete the hunter's quest line, go back to the moles. You'll eventually be prompted to check back on them.

Amazon: You need to have a female emperor and enter Salamat. Then, you need to help the Amazon character reach her village. Don't lie, and she'll join you.

Desert Guard: You need to complete the 'Hunting the Wandering Lake' quest in Teretuva. It doesn't matter how you deal with Noel so long as you complete the quest.

Levante Guard: Complete the 'Sekishusai, the Royal Retainer' quest in Yuyan.

Ninja: You'll automatically recruit them when completing 'Sekishusai, the Royal Retainer.' This happens when you clear the Yuyan Ninja camp.

Diver: You need to complete the 'The Storm and the Sunken Ship' quest. You also need to complete the 'Leon Bridge' quest and 'Mystery of the Canal' quest to unlock the 'The Storm and the Sunken Ship'.

Corsair: This one is pretty long. You need to complete "The Corsair's Dilemma" and "Garon's Rebellion" quests. They are both related, with "The Corsair's Dilemma" coming first. You either get them to surrender or submit. Regardless, you'll need to complete "Garon's Rebellion" later on.

Salamander: Complete the 'Calming the Volcano' quest, and then in the next few generations, you need to complete 'The Volcano's Eruption.' You mustn't go to Tsukijima in the meantime since that will cause the volcano to erupt. The Salamander is mutually exclusive with the Diviner.

Diviner: Instead of all that, you need to speak to the Diviner and then complete 'Calming the Volcano,' afterward, start 'the Volcano's Eruption,' but do not complete it. Go to Tsukijima and allow the volcano to erupt. An island will appear, and you will complete the quest that it gives. You will unlock dark magic and the class.

Dancer: Another new class, you need to complete 'The Dancer of Atlanticus.' and 'Searching For A Mermaid.' You need to use the mermaid potion three times in the specific location. This causes the progression system in the game to skip a generation. A Dancer will eventually join you.

Nereid: You will unlock this alongside the Dancer. When in Lake Aqua, speak with the Nereid. Similarly, speak with the crafter in the Mole. Doing his mini-quest will give you the Moonlight Comb. Taking it back to Lake Aqua and using it will unlock her class.

Iris: You need to reach Yuyan and complete 'The Iris and the Minstrel.'

Coppelia: You need to complete "Constructing the Leon Bridge" and "The Mystery of the Canal." Afterward, speak with Hiraga to unlock and recruit Coppelia. You need to wait until the 17th Century for this to appear.
