In Romancing SaGa 2, there are a few different lores of Magic. These are separated into different schools. Each belongs to a certain element type, and as you play the game, you will gain an affinity for these elements, which in turn will unlock new spells.

Certain spells have to be learned from special spell tomes. These can be found in hidden chests around the map. Dark Magic is one of the only spell types that is inaccessible at the start of the game. You can still collect the books; you just can’t learn them until much later in the game, after completing a quest.

Dark Book Locations

Book of Dark & Fire: This book contains the hellfire spell and is found in the eastern subterrane. It is in a cavern near the center of the map, almost impossible to miss.
Book of Dark & Fire II: Containing the spell, Ghost Light. This one is found in the cavern south of the Witch’s cottage in the Witch’s Sanctum.
Book of Dark & Earth I: Found in the Savannah, the book teaches you the Sand Storm spell. This is found in the top right of the map, near the northeast of the town.
Book of Dark & Earth II: Wraith Form. You will find this in the Seer’s Citadel Secret Room upon completing the puzzle in the Citadel.
Book of Dark & Earth III: The Landside Spell, this one is only obtainable when you have access to Minstrel’s Cave. This means you have to complete their quest.
Book of Dark & Wind I: This one teaches you the Dark Sphere and can be found in Teretuva Tower on the 4th Floor.
Book of Dark & Wind II: The Vortex Spell is found in the Tertiary Outworks 1F in Castle Chonto.
Book of Dark & Water I: The Poisonous Brew is found in a chest you can find right before fighting the Termite Queen in the Termite Den.
Book of Dark & Water II: The Ill Storm is found in 2F of the Eirunep Tower.
Book of Dark & Water III: The Rain of Death is found after defeating the Ghost Pirate Garon in the Sunken Ship. Garon is weak to a variety of attacks, including holy, fire, water, and wind magic. Having evasion for Whirlwind also makes his fight easier to manage.

Those are all the spell tomes that can be regarding Dark Magic. Be warned, though, when it comes to unlocking Dark Magic, you have to choose between that or the Salamander Class, so choose wisely.
