Another alternative is the MSI Pro B650M-A WiFi, priced at $140, which offers a stronger option than the Asus Prime B650M-A WiFi or the Gigabyte B650M Gaming WiFi, both of which should be avoided due to their poor VRM quality. Other budget boards from ASRock, MSI, and Gigabyte also underperform in this regard, making the Pro RS the most reliable option.

However, we'd recommend stretching slightly to $150 for the ASRock B650 PG Lightning or ASRock B650 Live Mixer. Both feature a powerful 14×60A VRM, PCIe 5.0 M.2 support, plenty of USB 3.2 ports, and 2.5G LAN. The only drawback is a lack of built-in WiFi, which would be an additional cost if required.

Best Mid-Range Micro ATX ($160–$220)

The MSI B650M Gaming Plus WiFi, which costs $160, is a good choice if you want a more powerful Micro ATX. The MSI MAG B650M Mortar WiFi is worth the extra $20 because it contains high-quality 12×80A power stages that will make it stronger in the future. It also has a cheaper 10-phase VRM.

Competing models include the Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite AX at $180 and the Asus TUF Gaming B650M-Plus WiFi at $190. All three options deliver excellent VRM performance, PCIe 5.0 M.2 support (except MSI, which is PCIe 4.0), 2.5G LAN, and WiFi connectivity.

The Asus board is limited to WiFi 6, while the others offer WiFi 6E. Ultimately, your choice comes down to regional pricing and aesthetics, as all of these boards are strong picks.
