Here's how you can easily form a powerful beginner-friendly Magic Build in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Unlike other Soulslike titles that force you to manage an FP bar or consume scarce resources for casting, this game provides a beginner-friendly magic system.

By leveraging the most potent spells and equipping one of the best early weapons, you will become overwhelmingly powerful within the first chapter.

This guide will reveal how to stack and maintain Skyborn Might, phase through enemy attacks, and deliver devastating spell damage so that, even with low HP and defense, you can dominate every encounter.

Main Weapon

You can find the Dark Frost Edge one-handed sword early in the Light Zen Temple area, not long after you see the Firepot throwables. It's hidden behind a group of enemies on a table. This sword gives you more than 100 spell power and lets you learn the Evasive Maneuver skill.

Whenever you perform a dodge or dash, Evasive Maneuver lets you phase through enemy attacks and build Skyborn Might. The Dark Frost Edge features three benediction slots—Oath, Memory, and Wisdom.

For Oath, choose Vitality Ferocity, which boosts all damage dealt at full health but increases damage taken, rewarding precise dodges.

In the Memory slot, equip Skyborn Vigor to accelerate stamina recovery while Skyborn Might is active. Finally, equip Skyborn Magic in the Wisdom slot to temporarily increase spell damage upon gaining Skyborn Might. Each of these benedictions is obtainable within the first hours of Chapter 1.

When using the Dark Frost Edge, counterattacks become effortless. Dashing into a light attack triggers a stab followed by a spinning slash, dealing high posture damage and staggering foes.

The same two-hit counter happens when you use Evasive Maneuver and then attack with a light move right after. Quickly switching between dodging and counterattacking with this tool feels satisfying and works well.

Pendants

Equip three jade pendants to enhance your build further. Early-game pendants include:

The Fiend Felling Pendant, available from a merchant on the first floor of the Shoe Sanctum, increases damage against larger enemies and bosses.

The Twin Infants Pendant, found in the workshop near the Mercury Workshop Shrine, improves stamina recovery.

The Draconic Pendant, also in the workshop, reduces damage taken and negates flinching from enemy roars.

By mid-game, swap out two pendants: retain the Twin Infants Pendant for sustained stamina regeneration, then add the Lifesteal Pendant to restore health upon defeating enemies—synergizing with Vitality Ferocity.

Finally, equip the Bird Pendant to boost magic damage, reinforcing magic as your primary damage source.

Spells

Two spells form the core of this build. Vorpal Blade, the first spell unlocked, deals consistent damage to enemies and mobs, allowing you to maintain distance from aggressive foes. It requires only one Skyborn Might, enabling frequent use.

When you beat the dance miniboss in the courtyard, you can use Infernal Flames. Its burst damage, burn buildup, and ability to track targets make it stand out.

It's faster to cast and does more harm than most spells, but it costs two Skyborn Might. If you learn these spells early on, it will be easy to kill both regular enemies and bosses.

Skill Trees

Pay attention to the left skill tree in the Impetis Depository to get the most magic damage, Skyborn Might, and HP potions.

The right tree is good at one-handed swords, so get better at swords to make both weapons and spells stronger.

Biting Time should be your top priority to passively gain Skyborn Might as you do things, which will help you regularly cast Vorpal Blade.

Within the left tree, aim for Skyborn Call to increase your maximum Skyborn Might stacks, eventually reaching Skyborn Call 3 for full stacks.

Below, acquire Bone Needle for Magic, which enhances spell potency when you imbue your weapon with Temperance.

Since Infernal Flames is your main spell, unlock Fiery Ember to accelerate burn buildup.

Finally, upgrade Temperance charges to two, allowing you to imbue your weapon twice per world reset before returning to the dream.
