Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Guide | Best Early Weapons
Here are some of the best weapons you can find early in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Game Guide by Faviyan Mustafiz on Jul 26, 2025
This guide presents each weapon class in detail—highlighting both Deluxe Edition exclusives and freely obtainable alternatives—so that you can make informed choices.
Wherever possible, you’ll learn where to find each weapon, which unique skills to prioritize, and how to combine them with skill‑tree buffs for maximum effectiveness.
All names of weapons, skills, and NPCs are bolded for clarity, and every proper name is capitalized. Let’s dive in.

Swords
The Beginning Sword will serve you reliably through the first several encounters. You should prioritize unlocking the Deflect skill as soon as possible since deflecting can be critical against more formidable foes.
Eventually, you’ll want to transition to the Whip Sword, whose unique skill boasts a wider, longer reach—ideal for clearing groups of enemies.
This sword is typically found in the underground section of the Shoe Sanctum, before entering the forest area. Pair its skill with Deflect and the Windforce skill to speed up charged strong attacks, and it will carry you for a long stretch.
If you opted for the Deluxe Edition, the Moonlit Dragon is a solid early upgrade. Its quick lightning slash follows up with a secondary strike at the cost of just one Might point, allowing rapid, potent damage.
Although the Whip Sword remains a favorite for its reach, the Moonlit Dragon outperforms the Beginning Sword at the outset.
Spears

Early in the game, you can obtain the Spear from the Panda by defeating the Panda boss in the Village Cave area, encountered before the third main boss.
Its Steam Chain skill functions similarly to the Whip Sword, delivering substantial area‑of‑effect damage.
When combined with the Tempered Arm buff to apply status effects quickly, it can slightly outperform the Deluxe Edition spear’s Clash skill—despite clash allowing simultaneous attack and deflect. Spears beyond these will not appear until you reach the ice‑themed region much later.
Magic Swords
For one‑handed magic swords, Deluxe Edition holders gain access to the Watcher’s Gaze, whose Phantom Flurry skill releases magical slashes in front of you and comes with clash, enabling you to attack while being attacked by melee weapons.
Non‑Deluxe users can pick up Darkfrost Edge just before the second boss; its Evasive Maneuver buff automatically dodges every incoming attack and can be spammed for continuous protection, making it one of the best defensive support weapons.
Bear in mind that Watcher’s Gaze benefits from Level 5 magic scaling, whereas Darkfrost Edge does not scale with magic. If magic damage is your focus, allocate points into the magic tree and seek out magic‑boosting items.

Even if you favor another primary weapon, equipping a magic sword in your off‑hand is recommended: the Biting Time skill in the one‑handed sword tree builds up Skybore Might passively, letting you charge Might for your subsequent encounter simply by swapping to the sword and idling.
Dual Swords (“Two Kats”)
Dual swords shine when you can exploit their fast clash skills. Deluxe Edition owners should equip the Eternal Sovereignty, whose unique clash skill costs only one Might and quickly applies status effects.
Free‑to‑play users can purchase the first dual swords from Wu Gang, though these early options underperform.
Mid‑game alternatives such as Firearm Blades or the Twin Bandits often surpass them. Regardless of the specific weapon, the dual‑sword skill tree inherently provides clash on many basic and charged attacks.
For the second skill, Blademaster is ideal: it increases attack speed and restores life upon clashing at the expense of Skyward Light.
Axes

Non‑Deluxe axes available early can feel underwhelming, so you may wish to consult alternative guides for any hidden finds.
Deluxe Edition purchasers gain access to the Vermillion War Club, which features the Misty Breath skill—a constant‑attack mist that shreds bosses rapidly while applying Poise Break.
To maximize its potential, unlock the Poise Break buff in the axe tree, then use a skill swap to deliver the Miss attack for consequential burst damage in a wide area.
