While journeying through Black Myth: Wukong, you may have come across a waterfall in Chapter 1. If your gamer intuition goes off when you see this waterfall, you would be correct, but the secret this waterfall hides isn’t accessible until Chapter 2.
First things first—you need to advance in the game until you reach the boss fight against the King of Flowing Sands and the second Rat Prince. This battle offers two different outcomes depending on who you defeat first.
If you take down the prince (he’s the larger one), the king will retreat and summon his firstborn son, the First Prince of Flowing Sands, for the next arena. He’s no pushover. On the other hand, if you focus on the king first, the prince will become more formidable, and you’ll receive an item after the battle: a pungent flesh chunk. Once the fight is over, head through the newly opened stone doors.
If the king survived, the first prince might show up automatically. You’ll need him to use his slam attack to break through a wall with intricate carvings. But if you prefer to handle things yourself, you can break the wall using a powerful ability like the Wandering Wight’s spirit attack or the final move in your dust form.
If you don’t have an ability strong enough, you can either return to the forest shrine and defeat the Wandering Wight outside to gain his spirit, or use the pungent flesh chunk to summon the first prince and have him break the wall for you. Whichever method you choose, the wall needs to come down.
Once inside the wall, climb up and retrieve the long scale from the chest. This item is your key to unlocking the path behind the waterfall you saw in Chapter 1. Return to that location, and follow the path that’s now open to you.
Behind the waterfall, you’ll encounter the secret boss—a thunder dragon. To take him down, focus on staggering him with the final hit of your light attack combo, heavy attacks, or by using your spirits. Once staggered, aim for the lightning pots on his back to deal extra damage. Watch out for when he recovers, as he’ll unleash a wide-area thunder attack. After defeating the thunder dragon, you’ll receive a long pearl. Also, the chest nearby will contain a new kyrio and materials to craft a new weapon.
