Today it was revealed that XIII Remake will launch later this year on November 10. The game is the remake of the original XIII, which first launched for consoles in 2003. Needless to say, XIII Remake has seen a total overhaul in terms of gameplay, visuals, story, and just about everything else you can think of. There's an awesome gameplay trailer which you can check out here if you're interested.
In XIII Remake you play as a spy who has woken up with no memory of who he is, or what he was doing prior to his memory loss. From there, players are taken on a rollercoaster ride of a story with many twists and turns, as they try to unlock the protagonist's memory and understand what he was doing before he lost his memory.
The original games was one of the pioneers of early cel-shaded graphics, and it's no different in the remake. The visuals have seen a massive overhaul and look far better than they did, but the DNA of the original game can still be felt.
The shooting in particular, right down to the crossbow and the way the knives are thrown, is a callback to the original XIII. That's definitely not a bad thing, and Id' actually say that it enhances it for fans of the original.
This announcement came alongside confirmation that there will be a physical limited edition version of the game. This limited edition cmes with three exclusive cards, which won't be available to anyone else.
