Metroid Dread Confirmed for October Release

After more than a decade Metroid is back with a new 2D game called Metroid Dread. With Samus investigating a transmission sent to the Galactic Federation on a remote planet overrun by aliens. The title is being developed by Mercurysteam who did Metroid: Samus Returns.

Metroid Dread will take after the events of Metroid Fusion and have Samus battling through new enemies called E.M.M.I. These deadly robots are immune to all of Samus' weapons except a 1-shot Omega Beam that loses its powers after 1 shot.

Because of this, the game will feature elements from Metroid Fusion. Similar to SA-X Samus will have to hide and evade the robots with new tools available. Samus can cloak in certain situations and slide to get through tight paths that the EMMI cannot follow. 

Metroid Dread launches on Switch this October 8th.
