Just when you think things are looking good and Gamefreak has fixed all the bugs from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they somehow add another bug, this time one that could break the game. This new bug came from the most recent update for the monster catching games, which has been receiving more frequent updates because of the recent release of the title’s Teal Mask DLC, which adds plenty of new Pokémon, characters and of course, glitches.
For months, both fans and players have been patiently waiting for the release of the first of two planned DLC expansions for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Teal Mask. The DLC takes players to the new Kitakami region, where they will need to unravel the many mysteries and legends that have been passed down from generation to generation. The DLC adds plenty of new pocket monsters for players to catch, including Poltchageist, Okidogi, and even more Pokemon from past generations like Ekans, Hoothoot, Lotad, and Kirlia, which were not present in the base game.
Despite how excited many players were to play the DLC, the new additions to the game brought a whole lot of glitches and bugs with it. One of these bugs was reported by Twitter User mattyoukhana_, who discovered that when entering a battle against Paradise Protection Protocol, the games will suddenly crash. This bug first appeared after the 2.0.1 update for both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This bug happens when the player has their Koraidon/Miraidon registered in the Pokedex, and hovers over their team's fourth, fifth, or sixth Pokémon slot. mattyoukhana_ was able to offer two solutions, either entering with a team of three Pokémon or going up or down to access the legendary slot.
Probably the most baffling thing about this bug is how specific its requirements are to trigger it. Many players have suspected that the reason for this bug appearing after the update is most likely because the games are preparing for the Indigo Disk DLC, which is the second half of the DLC content planned for the games. Hopefully this glitch will be fixed, as this isn't the first time the games have had such game-breaking bugs. Both Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were considered one of the worst Pokémon releases of all time because of how broken the games were on release.
