Dark Souls 2 is making its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year. Bandai Namco announced today that a re-release of the game titled Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will be arriving on current-gen systems on April 7, 2015, bringing all the DLC and a host of enhancements with it.
Of note, Scholar of the First Sin will feature “an expanded story featuring additional in-game events and NPC character along with new deadlier enemies and gameplay improvements." Based on what the trailer showed (see below), that definitely appears to be case, as early-game areas like Heide’s Tower of Flame now have dragons hanging about. The re-release will also sport new and improved graphics (the PC version supporting DirectX 11), as well as increasing the maximum number of players online to six.
Existing owners of Dark Souls 2 on PS3 and Xbox 360 will receive the new content via a patch, but the increased player count for multiplayer will only apply to the PS4, XONE, and PC versions.
UPDATE: PC owners will have to pay to receive the graphics update. Exact pricing details are expected to arrive next month.
