With Mortal Empires released, Creative Assembly are getting close to unleashing a new race upon the New World. Expected by many, the Tomb Kings will join the roster of playable factions in Total War: Warhammer II. Rise Of The Tomb Kings will bring a full, new roster of units for the Tomb Kings factions but will not feature a story campaign as past story campaigns did not benefit from great player engagement. Instead, it will come with two additional Legendary Lords, which gets the total up to four, all with their own skills, gear and quests.

Settra the Imperishable will provide a bonus to both growth and public order while reducing construction time. Skeleton Chariot and Tomb Guard units under his command gain bonus armor. High Queen Khalida reduces all forms of corruption, benefits from diplomacy bonuses with other Tomb Kings factions while providing extra ammunition to ranged units. She also grants poison attacks and less attrition damage to her units.

Grand Hierophant Khatep gains a bonus to Dynasty research rate while improving the rate of casualty replenishment and movement distances of armies globally. As he is quite an old Liche Priest, he can recruit more of this type of heroes, at a higher rank. Arkhan the Black is the last Legendary Lord and he benefits from diplomatic bonuses with Vampire Counts factions, and no public order penalties from Vampiric Corruption. Heroes embedded in his army gain melee attack and defence bonuses, while globally, he increases the Winds of Magic reservers his armies have.

The Tomb Kings faction will be playable in both the Eye Of The Vortex and Mortal Empires campaigns from launch. They will, however, not go after controlling the Vortex, instead focusing on seeking the nine cursed Books of Nagash. This sounds like a similar road which culminates in a battle at the Black Pyramid of Nagash. You can read more on new mechanics and the lore associated with the Legendary Lords in the full announcement. Total War: Warhammer II - Rise Of The Tomb Kings will be out on January 23rd 2018. The DLC is available for pre-order for the discounted price of 15,74€.
