Developers quickly confirmed the weapon changes were accidental and fully restored affected guns through an emergency hotfix.

A big new update for Arc Raiders has been released. It includes big additions, small changes, and surprises that have people talking across the community. The update brings real progress, new content, and some quality-of-life improvements. However, it also quietly added several important changes that were not mentioned at all, or only briefly, in the original patch notes.

Besides that, many bugs and balance changes caught players off guard. The good news is that the developers responded quickly and released a hotfix almost immediately to fix some of the most annoying problems. This made it clear which changes were intentional and which were accidental.

The new material for Bird City is one of the best things about the update.

It gives players more reasons to explore. The Arc Project version has also been a good addition, encouraging more players to hunt the Arc actively rather than avoid encounters with it. In general, progress feels smoother and more rewarding, which makes it seem like the game is heading in a good direction. Still, things haven't been perfect since the game launched, especially due to server issues that left some players unable to play.

In the days after the update, many players experienced severe rubberbanding, slow movement, and unreliable fighting. Because of these problems, even simple threats like ticks, wasps, and hornets felt much more dangerous than they should have. Based on what we've seen, the developers were aware of the issue almost right away and kept us informed as fixes were implemented. Things are slowly returning to normal on the servers, and new information suggests the worst of these problems may already be over. It wasn't just you if your sessions lately felt especially rough.

One of the biggest topics of conversation after the update was what people thought was a huge damage to semi-automatic guns. It wasn't long before players noticed that guns like the Ventor, Kettle, and Berleta fired much more slowly. At first, it looked like a change to the stealth balance aimed at top players or macro users, since these guns used to be the most popular in PvP. At first, this might lead to a wider range of weapons being used in battle. That idea didn't last long, though.

The developers said the changes to the semi-automatic guns' fire rates were not intended.

Because of a bug introduced by the update, the changes made to the kettle were applied to other guns that weren't supposed to be affected. The hotfix undid these changes, putting the Ventor and other related weapons back to how they worked before. You can safely use your favorite semi-auto again now if you feel like it stopped working all of a sudden.

Another change players noticed right away was how quickly they could loot. It takes longer for items to appear in loot menus after the update, making looting much slower. This has made looting feel much riskier, especially when going through full player inventories or looting in crowded areas. All of these delays add up over the course of a raid, making it much more dangerous and tense.

The slower looting speed, on the other hand, was revealed to be a deliberate change. It was left out of the original patch notes for some reason. The developers said in the hotfix notes that they changed how fast the first item shows when you loot. Looting was faster before version 1.13.0. Now, players who have unlocked the Looter's Instinct skill will see loot show much faster than those who don't. This makes Looter's Instinct much more useful than before.

We're not sure how we feel about this change. On the one hand, the extra tension during looting, especially after PvP fights, does make the risk-reward equation more interesting and decisions more important. On the other hand, it can be hard when you want to get what you need and go. Everything is moving more slowly, which can be annoying in a game where time is important.

There were also some new items and changes to the way things look that weren't in the patch notes.

There were also some new items and changes to the way things look that weren't in the patch notes. Now that the Bird City map has changed, players can find duckies that range in rarity from green to purple. These rare duckies sell for a lot of money, so if you're lucky, you could make a lot of money finding them. The look of the existing duckies has also been improved, making them look brighter and clearer. Similar changes have been made to the looks of other things, which have kept their original identities but now look very different.

Hatch extracts are another important change. Raider hatch extracts were almost quick in the big update before Headwinds. This drew players in right away and made extractions feel much safer. Many players were saved by this change that wasn't meant to happen in high-pressure scenarios. That practice has been changed back with the Headwinds update. When you extract a hatch, the full animation is used again, and your figure jumps down into the hatch.

Instant hatch extracts are no longer possible, and the slower animation makes it much more dangerous, especially when several friends are trying to extract at the same time. It's easy to see why the makers took back the faster extraction, even though it felt great and still needed a key. It's important to keep the motion because it makes the extraction process more consistent, even if it's less forgiving.

All of this adds to a bigger conversation about how shadows change and how people talk to each other. There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not patch notes should show all changes, even small ones that affect the balance. On the one hand, the makers have said they want to include all changes and appreciate players reporting problems promptly. On the other hand, the deliberate change to the speed of stealing wasn't talked about until players noticed it.

There are concerns about openness because of this lack of consistency.

Unintentional bugs, such as the fire rate issue, were quickly identified and fixed. However, changes intended to have a significant impact on the game might warrant discussion in advance. It's really amazing how quickly hotfixes are being released and how quickly server issues are being fixed. There has been good communication in those places. But it's harder to say that everything is clear when important changes to the balance are found after the fact.

So it comes down to what kind of player you are. Do you want to know about every single change, no matter how small, or are you okay with finding out things on your own as the game changes after an update? That question is at the heart of the current conversation about this change.

Even though there have been some bumps, the overall mood remains positive. With this update, the game gets deeper, more challenging, and more fun to play. Arc Raiders still feels like a game worth spending time on, even though it's still in the early stages of development and bugs are being fixed quickly. More content is also on the way.
