Elder Scrolls 6 Might Still Be Years Away – Todd Preaches Patience and a Long Wait
Bethesda is working on Fallout games, including a possible Fallout 3 Remaster, so Tamriel's next adventure might not be released until 2030, which is later than fans had hoped.

Players have been on their legendary journey through Skyrim's snowy peaks for more than ten years, and the wait for its sequel, The Elder Scrolls 6, seems to go on forever. Sources say that Todd Howard from Bethesda has once again told fans to be patient, saying that the next game in the famous fantasy RPG series is still "a long way off."
Howard told GQ that development is moving forward, but he also stressed that there is still a lot of work to be done before fans can expect to return to the huge world of Tamriel.

If you take a moment to consider that chronology. 2011 saw the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and 2018 saw the unveiling of the teaser for the game's sequel. At the time, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was still a significant gaming event held annually. Even though it is now the year 2025, it has been seven years since that little teaser of a mountain range that drove fans insane.
There has been conjecture about a possible release window between the years 2028 and 2030 as a result of Howard's most recent comments, which suggest that the development cycle may be much longer than previously thought.
The Elder Scrolls 6 would be released almost twenty years after Skyrim, which would make it one of the longest gaps between mainline games in the history of modern gaming. If this is the case, The Elder Scrolls 6 would be released.
There appears to be a connection between the current priorities of Bethesda Game Studios and the glacial pace at which the game is headed toward release. There have been reports that hundreds of developers at the company are still working on the Fallout series, particularly on Fallout 76 and other projects that have not yet been announced.
It is possible that one of these projects will be a remaster of Fallout 3, which would be comparable to the remaster of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that was released last year.
There is a possibility that Elder Scrolls 6 is not the studio's main priority at the moment, even though longtime fans will be thrilled by the prospect of returning to the Capital Wasteland with improved graphics and new gameplay elements. Some people believe that the rumored remaster will be released in 2026 or 2027.
If that happens, Bethesda's schedule could push the release of Elder Scrolls 6 even further down the line.

It's a classic case of creative juggling to keep fans happy, deal with big IPs, and deal with modern development problems like problems with Unreal Engine 5 performance. Even though the many re-releases of Skyrim have made the long wait easier to handle, the desire for a new Elder Scrolls world is strong.
So here we are, almost 14 years after Skyrim came out, still waiting for the next big adventure. Will Bethesda make it worth the almost 20-year wait, or will the sands of Tamriel's hourglass keep falling as we explore the wastelands for a little longer?
