The upcoming 4v4 fighting game from Arc System Works, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, looks like it will be a big deal in both the Marvel and competitive fighting game scenes. A screenshot of the character selection screen shows that the game could have up to 35 playable characters. Not all of the characters have been confirmed yet, but if they are, Fighting Souls would be one of the biggest Marvel-based fighting games ever.
People who like fighting games have been waiting for something new to happen, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls could be that thing. The highly anticipated fighter was officially announced earlier today. It was made by PlayStation XDEV, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games working together very well, and it will be playable for the first time by the public at EVO Las Vegas 2025.

A Senior Producer at XDEV named Reed Baird broke the news that people who visit Arc System Works' booth will be able to play the game before it comes out in 2026. It is, in fact, the real deal. Fans can choose from six famous Marvel characters to make their own four-person team. These characters are Captain America, Iron Man, Storm, Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, and the terrifying Doctor Doom. This first group has something for everyone, whether you like to zone, rush, or just press buttons and look good while doing it.
Even better? People who enter the ring will not only get to brag about it, but they will also get a special Fighting Souls pin that can only be found once you go to the booth. Because, well, what's a fighting game without some special items to show off?
But EVO 2025 has more in store than that. On Friday, August 1, at 8:00 PM PT on the EVO Showcase Stage, there will be a special developer combat panel with top artists from Arc System Works and Marvel Games. The panel is supposed to go into great detail about how the game is played, and it will probably be the first time that people get a real look at what could be the next big Marvel fighting game.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is going to be a strong contender in the modern fighting game market. Arc System Works has been making games for a long time and has already earned its place among the best. Its games include Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Now that the Marvel license is in hand and PlayStation is behind the project, everyone is very excited.
Fans of fighting games who have been playing for a long time will love this kind of crossover. A carefully crafted 2.5D fighter with movie-like looks and Marvel's most famous characters? It's clear as day. And since Arc System Works is in charge, you can expect mechanics that are as smooth as butter, supers that shine, and frame-perfect accuracy.
The announcement is also great news to people who play fighting games for fun. It's not just smart marketing to have the demo and panel at EVO, which is the biggest fighting game tournament in the world. That's right, this game is for the FGC. It's not just another superhero cash grab; it's being made from the ground up with fair competition, community involvement, and great gameplay in mind.

This is one to watch even if you're not into tournaments. Fighting Souls looks like it will be a great mix of old and new for everyone, from casual Marvel vs. Capcom fans to people who grew up with Street Fighter II.
The full release date isn't until 2026, but you can start playing it next year, and more information about how to play is on the way. The hype train has officially departed.
Are you going to watch the EVO panel? Are you going to Las Vegas just to fight as Storm or Doctor Doom? There you have it. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is now one of the most exciting fighting games coming out soon. From what we know so far, it looks like it will hit hard.
