Sonic Frontiers' Will Have New Playable Characters In 2023
Photo Mode; birthday celebrations and more to be added to Sonic Frontiers in 2023

Sonic Frontiers has been a relatively successful return to form for the Sonic franchise, laying a good foundation for future games in the series. The game introduces Sonic to an expansive open world for the first time and, while suffering from a litany of technical issues at launch, has received mostly praise upon release. Providing fans and critics with an optimistic future for the blue blur.
Sonic Frontiers sees Sonic and his friends transported to Starfall Islands. Stuck on the vast archipelago; Sonic must gather the Chaos Emeralds to free his friends, destroy the colossal machines patrolling the islands, and defeat the mysterious Sage.
The Sonic Frontiers Twitter account has revealed a Road Map of what Sonic will be getting up to in 2023. Update 1 will add a Juke Box, Photo Mode, and new Challenge Modes to Sonic Frontiers, with the latter appearing to be set in the game's Cyber Space levels. These Cyber Space levels provide players with a different challenge to the open zones and are based on classic Sonic the Hedgehog levels from the 2D era.
Update 2 celebrates Sonic's birthday and adds an Open Zone Challenge and new Koco to the game. While there is no release date for the various updates given with the announcement, the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will be 32 years old on June 23rd. The Koco is a species of rock-like creatures native to Sonic Frontier's Starfall Islands that can be collected and given to the Elder Koco in exchange for a stat upgrade. Expect Update 2 to release in the summer of 2023 to coincide with the franchises' anniversary.
Finally, Update 3 adds new playable characters and storylines to Sonic Frontiers. Nothing else is known, but Tails, Knuckles, and Amy all feature on the Road Map image. Sonic's friends spend most of the main game trapped between Cyber Space and the real world, however, they may not be suited to Sonic Frontiers' open zone gameplay. The other option is franchise newcomer and primary antagonist Sage, an artificial intelligence and pseudo-daughter to Dr. Eggman who can fly, teleport and manipulate the machines on the Starfall Islands.
All the features on Sonic Frontiers' roadmap will be free and scheduled to release throughout 2023.
