Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Roadmap is Packed With New Games and Remakes

From Assassin’s Creed Hexe to a possible Black Flag subseries, Ubisoft appears to have a lot planned for the franchise through the coming years.

With the release of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resync, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise appears to be getting some much-needed positivity from the community. The company also seems to have much bigger plans for the series moving forward, especially after bringing former game director Eric Baptizat back to oversee the entire Assassin’s Creed brand.

The next major mainline entry is expected to be Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which is being described as a completely unique type of Assassin’s Creed game. Instead of following the huge open-world RPG formula used by recent entries, Hexe is expected to have a more linear structure while still featuring a large map.

Assassin’s Creed Enzio Standing

Earlier information surrounding Hexe suggested that the game would feature several magical mechanics, including possession and the ability to control animals through a cat companion.

However, some of those elements now appear to have been removed or changed. One example involves the disappearance of the main character, which was previously associated with supernatural abilities but is now reportedly achieved using smoke bombs that make it look as though she has vanished.

That means the character may not actually be using magic to perform the trick. Instead, the smoke bombs create the illusion of a supernatural disappearance for anyone watching. There have also been rumors that Ezio Auditore could return in Hexe, although that remains unconfirmed.

Alongside Hexe, Ubisoft is also reportedly working on Assassin’s Creed Invictus, which is being described as a Fall Guys-style multiplayer experience. The game is expected to bring together different Assassin’s Creed characters and legacy locations while focusing on party-style competitions.

Invictus is also reportedly expected to use a free-to-play model, although Ubisoft has not provided much official information about the project. Rumors suggest the game performed poorly in playtesting, and reliable information about development progress is still scarce.

Another project on Ubisoft’s roadmap is Assassin’s Creed Jade, which is expected to be the franchise’s first truly open-world Assassin’s Creed game designed for mobile. The gameplay shown so far has looked closer to what you would expect from an RPG-style Assassin’s Creed experience similar to Origins or Odyssey.

Jade was originally expected to release in 2025 before rumors suggested that it had been pushed into 2026.

Ubisoft still has not provided a firm release date, despite gameplay footage already showing how the project is shaping up. The game was also in development before Ubisoft and Tencent’s partnership, meaning its development began before Tencent became involved with part of the Assassin’s Creed business.

There have even been claims that the developers had nearly abandoned Jade at one point. Whether that is accurate remains unclear, but the project has gone through enough delays to raise questions about its development.

With the Ubisoft and Tencent partnership now in place, however, the team may have a stronger reason to continue supporting the game after launch and ensure that it becomes a properly optimized mobile experience.

The multiple delays could also have allowed the developers additional time to make changes to the game and potentially plan what happens after launch. That remains speculation, but a longer development period could allow the team to address issues and improve the experience before releasing it to a wider mobile audience.

Beyond the games, Ubisoft is also working with Netflix on a live-action Assassin’s Creed television series. The project is expected to tell an entirely new story instead of retelling Ezio’s journey, the original Assassin’s Creed, or another existing game.

The Netflix partnership has already produced other projects connected to Ubisoft properties, including an animated Splinter Cell project and the Far Cry Blood Dragon series. A live-action Assassin’s Creed show would give the franchise an opportunity to reach people outside the usual gaming audience.

The goal appears to be creating something closer in quality to major game adaptations such as Fallout or The Last of Us.

Whether it reaches that level will ultimately depend on the writing, performances, and direction, but avoiding another direct retelling gives the show room to establish its identity. The series could potentially arrive in 2026, although 2027 appears to be the more realistic expectation based on the information in the roadmap.

Ubisoft’s plans do not stop with these projects, either. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson previously reported that several additional Assassin’s Creed games have appeared on an internal roadmap. Because many of these projects are still years away, there are very few details about them, and some of the plans may already have changed.

One of those projects is reportedly known as Assassin’s Creed Scarlet, or potentially Assassin’s Creed Nebula. Tom Henderson has described Scarlet as the next major RPG following Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with its release expected after Hexe receives around a year of post-launch support.

One possibility is that Scarlet is actually Assassin’s Creed Nebula, which has previously been associated with three different settings: India, the Mediterranean, and the Aztec Empire. If that information is accurate, the project could represent another major expansion of Ubisoft’s open-world RPG formula.

A game built around several major settings could also provide an opportunity to bring back systems such as naval combat, potentially with modern improvements based on the technology used for newer Assassin’s Creed titles.

Another project reportedly in Ubisoft’s plans is Assassin’s Creed Stardust, which is expected to be the company’s second remake.

The project is said to enter production following the release of Black Flag Resync, although it remains unclear which Assassin’s Creed game will receive the remake treatment. Possibilities include the original Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed III, or even the Ezio Auditore trilogy.

An Assassin’s Creed 1 remake would be particularly compelling because it could allow Ubisoft to rebuild the original game with modern technology while reworking some of its older systems. It could also give the developers an opportunity to reconsider how the modern-day portions are handled, especially as the franchise has recently been changing or reducing those elements.

Following Stardust, Ubisoft reportedly has another project called Assassin’s Creed Emerald. Tom Henderson has stated that this game could arrive only a few months after Stardust and could be another multiplayer project with a planned five-year support period if it performs well internally.

There was speculation that Emerald could become an Assassin’s Creed game inspired by titles such as ARC Raiders, potentially mixing PvE extraction gameplay with PvPvE elements. However, Ubisoft’s recent cancellation of a Far Cry extraction project may have caused the company to rethink that direction.

The roadmap reportedly extends even further with another major RPG simply referred to as Assassin’s Creed RPG 3. There is currently no known codename, developer, or specific setting attached to it. The plan is reportedly for it to follow Scarlet after roughly two years of support, meaning Ubisoft already appears to have another RPG planned beyond its next major project.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Protagonist Standing

Finally, Ubisoft reportedly has another remake planned after Stardust.

Like RPG 3, this project does not currently have a codename, confirmed developer, or information about which game will be remade. The company appears to have penciled it in as another remake for the future, showing that remakes could become a continuing part of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed strategy.

Of course, this entire roadmap should be treated carefully because much of it comes from older reports and projects this far away can change significantly. Some of these plans may already have been canceled, delayed, renamed, or redesigned internally. Still, the overall direction suggests that Ubisoft wants Assassin’s Creed to cover several different genres rather than relying entirely on massive open-world RPGs.

The success of Black Flag Resync could also encourage Ubisoft to create dedicated subseries around popular parts of the franchise. That could potentially include remakes of Freedom Cry and Assassin’s Creed Rogue, followed by a completely new Black Flag 2 using modern technology and an upgraded naval combat system.

There is also the possibility of bringing back Bayek for a future Assassin’s Creed project such as Scarlet or Nebula. If that game really does feature three different settings, Bayek could return alongside two new protagonists in a structure somewhat similar to Grand Theft Auto V.

Overall, Ubisoft appears to have a long list of Assassin’s Creed projects planned across games, remakes, multiplayer experiences, mobile releases, and television. Not every project will necessarily make it to release in its current form, especially with several of them still years away.

Even so, the roadmap suggests that Assassin’s Creed is entering another period where Ubisoft is willing to experiment with different formats while continuing to build on the franchise’s most popular games.
