Ideal Party Composition

Taking on the Netherbrain requires a very well-rounded party to handle a lot of threats while watching your core members' backs. The ideal party would include a sturdy tank, such as a Fighter or Paladin, who can take some beating and shield the more fragile characters. Obviously, bring a healer to keep your party alive, but he'll likely be too busy being beleaguered by the boss's psychic attacks, and a high-damage spellcaster-like a Wizard or Sorcerer-will ravage the Netherbrain whenever its shield is down.

A flexible utility character, like a Druid or Ranger, will make good use of this terrain and clean up the few trash mobs that spawn during combat. Good positioning goes a long way, so keep your ranged troops out of the fray as your melee types cut down the small fry.

Phase 1: Minion Control

At the beginning of the combat, the Netherbrain summons a horde of mind-controlled enemies to soften your party up and confuse them. The strategy here is going to be to clear the room of these minions before engaging the Netherbrain. Fireball and Cone of Cold are preferred AoE spells for ridding many enemies at once. These minions should not remain very long so as not to overwhelm your healers or decimate your spellcasters.

While taking care of these vanguards, note that the Netherbrain is going to confuse or shock your party members. Cast Haste or Bless on your party to maximize survival upon entering the first round of combat. Be prepared to counteract with Lesser Restoration or some kind of potion after taking any negative status affecting your progress.

Phase 2: Shattering the Netherbrain's Shield

Once the minions fall, the Netherbrain creates a huge shield for itself, wherein it becomes invulnerable for a short while. You will have to destroy the shield during this part of the fight by attacking the sources of its power across the battlefield. This is normally guarded by other monsters, so split your party and focus on ridding yourself of the monsters and the power sources.

Do not worry too much-the teleportation powers in your characters, such as Dimension Door or Misty Step, can move about a battlefield very fast. Your strong ranged attackers must attack the shield generators, while melee fighters help to keep off excess enemies. When the shield falls, the Netherbrain again becomes vulnerable, and a final blow can be prepared.

Phase 3: Bringing Down the Netherbrain

With the Netherbrain's shield down, it's time for the ultimate attack. This phase will be a real race against time since the Netherbrain will commence using extremely powerful psychic attacks that usually hit several characters all at once. Spread out the group and get ready for mitigation, as most AoE effects will hit when more people are clustered together. Cast defensive spells: Counterspell or Shield of Faith. Now it is time to go wild and show your most powerful attacks.

Strongest spells are Meteor Swarm and Disintegrate, which work really well and lower the boss's health as fast as possible. A rogue with Sneak Attack will deal great amounts of bursts from really good positioning. Keep healing party members and don't forget about using Superior Healing Potions or even better-healing scrolls when things get hard.

Tips for Success

Success in this fight relies a lot on handling your party's resources: keep your strongest spells for when it is absolutely needed-when the shield fails and the Netherbrain becomes vulnerable. Utilize the ability Fly or other mobility-enhancing skills to keep ranged characters up in the air and well out of reach of damaging minions.

Make sure your healer is in a good position, able to reach all those in the party who may need healing with ease. In combat, deal with disabling the minions and then work your way onto destroying the shield generators as soon as possible. If overpowered, flee and regroup since being stuck out in the open will quickly lead to defeat.

Finally…

The combat with Baldur's Gate 3 Netherbrain is about tactical planning, character coordination, and adaptation. You should finally overcome even the most formidable foes after some prudent planning regarding party composition and just the right amount of strategic moves.

You'll take down the Netherbrain, win, and focus on the key moments: removing minions, breaking the shield, and dealing massive damage in its vulnerable phase. Keep your calm, plan with caution, and utilize the strengths of your party in taking home this epic battle.
