A guide on how to unlock and master Hybrid abilities in Gatekeeper.

In Gatekeeper, Hybrid is one of two beginning characters that focuses on ranged combat. This character can fire accurately and do damage to a large area, making it a good choice for those who want to attack adversaries from a distance.

Hybrid's kit is all about taking down one target at a time and bouncing projectiles. It also has a passive ability that gives you a second chance if things go wrong.

Hybrid Abilities
Hybrid reminds you of Huntress crossed with Commando if you've played Risk of Rain 2. Your first ability fires a simple forward shot that deals damage and is easy to aim. Use this to take out most enemies.
You can build into this for a powerful setup capable of high single-target damage, but keep in mind it doesn't have any AOE, nor is there any way to add AOE.
Your second ability, Whisper, charges up after a short delay and fires an exploding orb to blast enemies. This AOE can set enemies on fire by igniting them through upgrades. Ignite means enemies take fire damage over time and enables other bonuses on some of Hybrid's abilities.

Blink serves as your third ability and gets you out of danger. Use this when enemies are shooting at you, about to melee you, or when you're too close to a dangerous siren.
External Bios, your fourth ability, bounces between multiple enemies. This ability is not for pure single-target damage. If you're fighting a siren or other tanky enemy, don't simply spam it.
Instead, wait for a second enemy to wander over so the projectile bounces between them, dealing maximum damage. If it runs out of enemies to bounce between, it stops dealing damage.

Hybrid's passive ability is Replicant. When you die, you get a 50% damage boost and a second life. You should not go dying just to get the damage boost - you can do better than that. You can die because you made a mistake, which happens frequently, especially later in runs.
You tend to either max out the first ability or the fourth ability, but there's personal choice involved, depending on which artifacts you get. You should avoid close-range artifacts since you want to stand back and blast enemies from a distance.
