The fight against Markiona, Puppeteer of Death, and her tethered companion demands careful preparation and precise timing. This encounter combines a classic duel with a unique tether mechanic that prevents the sorceress from acting independently until her puppet is defeated.

Adventurers must balance offensive pressure with defensive readiness to dismantle the bond and effectively stagger Markiona.

Required Equipment

Adventurers should enter the arena equipped with throwable bombs and healing consumables. A Cube with Wishstone is recommended to restore HP to the Spectre if necessary, though skilled fighters may bypass this need.

The Acidic Crystal Spear serves as the primary weapon for inflicting significant damage, while specialized amulets that enhance harm against humanoids will further tip the scales. Finally, tuning in to Legion Arm has amazing benefits and is necessary to keep control of the fight.

Understanding the Tether Mechanic

At the outset, Markiona and her Spectre remain tethered, sharing a link that cannot be severed until the puppeteer falls. This tether transfers energy between the two, making direct assaults on Markiona ineffective until the bond is broken.

Fighters who are paying attention will notice that when the tether glows orange, both entities charge a deadly counterstrike. This means that the Aegis Arm needs to be used right away to defend.

Phase 1: Eliminating the Puppet

Focus entirely on the Spectre, deflecting its relentless onslaught with the Aegis Arm and avoiding its lunge attacks. While this is going on, the puppet advances must stay alert for Markiona's blue orbs, which she throws to block off areas.

If you dodge or strike these orbs with throwables, they don't pose much of a threat. Once the Spectre is defeated, the tether will knock Markiona out, giving the other side a vital chance to attack back.

Phase 2: Staggering and Attacking Markiona

With the puppet vanquished, unleash all resources upon Markiona during her staggered state. Activate the Fable Art immediately to maximize burst damage, then continue the assault even as she summons new blue orbs to control space.

Should the tether's glow shift to orange again—which it may while residual energies persist—raise the Aegis Arm to negate the impending explosive backlash? After the second slight stagger, maintain pressure with melee strikes and throwables until Markiona is defeated.
