Cosmetic skins change how Kenji and Kumori look, but they also show how much time and effort you put into the game. Some outfits unlock by simply finishing a run. Others ask you to collect every Crystal Skull or earn an S rank on every stage.

A few of the flashiest skins, like Golden Shadow and Golden Assassin, are clear proof that you mastered Normal Mode and Hard Mode. You can use these skins to keep runs fresh, push yourself toward better ranks, and flex your progress whenever you jump into a new stage.

Kenji Skins In Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

The first set of unlockable costumes belongs to Kenji Mozu, the main hero of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. Each outfit has a clear requirement, so you always know what to aim for as you climb through the campaign and special stages.

The default skin for Kenji is Kenji’s Outfit. This is unlocked by default and is available from the very start of the game. You do not need to finish any stage or meet any condition to use it, so it is the look you see during your early runs while you get used to the controls and enemy patterns.

The second costume is Classic Ninja. You unlock Classic Ninja by completing the game on Normal Mode. This means you must finish every stage on that difficulty at least once. When you clear the final level on Normal Mode, this outfit becomes available in your skin list, letting you run the game with a more traditional ninja style.

Next is Mugen Tenshin Ninja. You unlock Mugen Tenshin Ninja by completing the game on Hard Mode. To get this costume, you must survive all stages on this higher difficulty, including the tougher enemy placements and boss patterns that come with it. Once you finish your Hard Mode run, the skin unlocks and gives Kenji a look inspired by the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan.

The third unlockable costume is The Penitent One. You unlock The Penitent One by getting every single Crystal Skull in every stage on Hard Mode, including special stages. This means you have to search each level carefully, clear optional routes, and revisit stages until every Crystal Skull is found. When you finish this full collectible hunt on Hard Mode, The Penitent One becomes available and marks you as someone who explores every corner of the game.

The final costume for Kenji is Golden Shadow. You unlock Golden Shadow by getting an S rank or higher on every stage on Normal Mode, including special stages. To do this, you must play cleanly, avoid unnecessary damage, and keep your routes efficient.

The easiest way to unlock this skin is by equipping a Debuff Talisman, because it adds an extra rank on top of your performance. With this item active, it becomes more realistic to secure S rank or above on all stages and claim Golden Shadow as a trophy skin.

Kumori Skins In Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound

The second set of costumes belongs to Kumori, the kunoichi from the Black Spider Clan and co-protagonist of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. Her outfits mirror Kenji’s unlock paths, so you can progress both characters side by side as you clear harder challenges and farm collectibles.

The basic costume for Kumori is Kumori’s Outfit. Just like Kenji’s Outfit, this skin is unlocked by default. You can use Kumori’s Outfit as soon as she becomes playable, with no special tasks needed. It lets you get comfortable with her ranged tools and demonic abilities while still looking like a classic Black Spider assassin.

The next skin is Black Spider Uniform. You unlock Black Spider Uniform by completing the game on Normal Mode. When you finish your Normal Mode run, this costume unlocks alongside the Classic Ninja skin for Kenji. This makes it easy to gear up both characters with their first clear-reward outfits at the same time.

The third costume is Biker Style. You unlock Biker Style by getting every single Crystal Skull in every stage on Normal Mode, including special stages. To get this skin, you must comb through the levels, track down hidden routes, and replay stages until every Crystal Skull is collected on that difficulty. Once the last skull is obtained, Biker Style becomes available, giving Kumori a modern, rebellious look that fits her attitude.

The fourth costume is Runaway Ninja. You unlock Runaway Ninja by completing the game on Hard Mode. When you finish all stages at this difficulty, this skin unlocks alongside the Mugen Tenshin Ninja skin for Kenji. This pairing lets you display matching “hard-clear” outfits on both characters and signals that you can handle the game’s tougher enemy waves and bosses.

The final Kumori skin is Golden Assassin. You unlock Golden Assassin by getting an S rank or higher on every stage on Hard Mode, including special stages.

This is one of the hardest tasks in the game, since you must not only beat Hard Mode, but also perform at a high level in every mission.

As with Golden Shadow, the easiest way to unlock Golden Assassin is by equipping a Debuff Talisman, because it adds an extra rank and gives you more room for small mistakes while still reaching S rank or above on each stage.

Tips For Earning S Ranks And Collecting Crystal Skulls

To unlock The Penitent One, Biker Style, Golden Shadow, and Golden Assassin, you need both strong routing and consistent play. Focus on learning enemy spawns so you can clear waves quickly and keep combo chains going.

Try to avoid unnecessary damage, since staying alive and efficient helps push your score into S rank territory. Once you have access to a Debuff Talisman, equip it whenever you deliberately go for rank-based unlocks, because the extra rank it gives can turn a near-miss into a successful clear.

For Crystal Skulls, make a habit of revisiting earlier stages after upgrades. With better abilities, you can reach optional paths more safely and explore tricky platforming sections without losing too many lives.

Pay attention to off-screen routes, suspicious walls, and areas that seem too quiet; these spots often hide a Crystal Skull. By mixing collectible runs with rank attempts, you can gradually clear every requirement and unlock all skins for both Kenji and Kumori in Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.
