Role-playing games have been a staple of gaming even before Video Games were a thing. So, naturally, they are one of the biggest genres of gaming, with many subgenres and themes. They are also one of the most prestigious ones, with many games under their banner, delivering excellence in storytelling, gameplay, and visuals.

From Witcher 3 to Skyrim, from Fallout: New Vegas, to recent games like Baldur's Gate 3 or Disco Elysium, the genre is full of spectacular games, and every year, there is more and more to be found. 2025 looks to be one of the better years in all this, looking to receive many RPG titles that are each more exciting than most games released in some other years.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

Now, here's the thing, not many expect this game to do well. The game had been stuck in development hell for a while now and even had a change in developers sometime in 2021. Chinese Room found themselves at the helm but also proved to be an odd choice. The developer is mostly known for their really good horror games. This is something that you'd not really expect from a very simulation-heavy RPG. That being said, everyone could just be wrong, and the game might turn out to be a decent one.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has a lot to prove, but it looks to stick closely with its predecessor. It remains to be seen if that'll be a good side or a bad choice. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 comes out sometime in 2025 with an, as of yet, actual final release date.

Fable, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Fable

It has been 15 years since Fable 3, and most people nowadays might not even recognize the name. The game so far looks very promising, of course, with a new visual style and all that. There isn't much to say because there's very little we know.

It will carry the tone of the previous games, and that's it. However, it will be very interesting to see how this classic shapes up in the modern era. The game will be released sometime in 2025.

The First Berserker: Khazan, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

The First Berserker: Khazan

Now soulslike games have garnered a large following over the years to the point where when one mentions Action RPG, they usually think of a Soulsbourne or Soulslike games like of Elden Ring. The First Berserker: Khazan looks to be one such game, although brought forth by a relatively unknown studio, the game appears to look great from the gameplay footage revealed so far.

The tone definitely sets the game in the dark high fantasy theme of many soulslike games. The game doesn’t really have any more info outside of this but players can expect to play it through Game Pass since it's in the first day of release.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 looks to be an ambitious game with some information available. Developed by Sandfall Interactive as their first game, Clair Obscur looks to have crazy-good aesthetics and a really scary concept behind it. The game also appears to blend in elements of JRPGs, which is neat since Sandfall Interactive themselves are not a Japanese Developer.

A turn-based fantasy seems just fine, and it certainly looks like a JRPG, so who can say, maybe it'll challenge some of the monoliths of that particular subgenre. Of course, we don't know too much aside from really cool cinematics and footage, which also look incredible. Overall, one can only hope to find out more.

Monster Hunter Wilds, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Monster Hunter Wilds

February itself looks to be a packed month. Monster Hunter Wilds comes out on February 28, and it looks to be just as good as the rest of the series. It still feels surreal to have the series on PC, and when the first of its games came out on PC, things got a whole lot more fun.

Of course, Monster Hunter Rise was more meant for the Switch, making it somewhat limited for PC. This saw many turn away from the series, and well, Monster Hunter was never really a true RPG. However, Monster Hunter Wilds looks to emulate the title before Rise, offering large maps, stunning visuals, and, naturally, great big monsters.

Avowed, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Avowed

Avowed is one of the projects the hallowed Obsidian Entertainment has been working on for a while now. Most information on it has been kept under tight wraps, and there are only a few hands-on previews of the game. From what we know, however, it seems to have an incredibly old-fashioned retro vibe that has the makings of the perfect fantasy adventure.

It shares or at least is related to the universe where their other games, The Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity, are set, and well, that might make things surprising since the former is more of a sci-fi. It is also basically a sequel to Pillars of Eternity. The game looks to have a smaller scale, but with the news of a very strong magic system, things are looking great.

Being Delayed from 2024 to 2025 and then facing more than a few instances of drama due to things said by its Art Director. It definitely seemed to tick off more than one fan, which is hilarious, considering we still know very little about the game itself, so crying over who might or might not be in the game makes things look silly. All that aside, the game looks to release on February 18, and as always with any Obsidian game, one can be very, very excited.

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault

A very pleasant indie action RPG that splits your focus between managing a shop and going down dungeons. The first Moonlighter game was a delight, and thankfully enough, Digital Sun seems to be looking to keep it up with a sequel.

The game looks to be much the same, with one very stark change. It is now presented in a very isometric 3D angle, straying from the pixel aesthetics of the original. Players now explore a new area while being able to help their town grow and expand the shops of fellow shop owners. The game comes out sometime in 2025, and it looks to be a great and cozy experience.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Near the end of the list are some of the heavy hitters, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is definitely a heavy hitter. Warhorse Studios' gem, the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, was a spectacular game that removed most, if not all, of the fantasy elements of RPGs and managed to make it even more fun.

This time, it is even more ambitious, with a larger game and graphics that looks impeccable. The game also sets out to be more immersive and far more appealing to its gameplay. Despite not having too much information on its open-world aspects, we definitely know it'll be a big part since it was also a big part of the last game. It also comes very, very soon, on February 11, 2025.

Borderlands 4, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Borderlands 4

Another one of the games that we know very little about. The trailer, dropped not too long ago in last year's Game Awards, showed very little substance, but honestly? One can't help but be excited. Many are hoping for big changes, something more to revitalize the franchise. It has been a while, with six years between the last game. There have been a few DLCs here and there, some better than others, but nothing truly to scratch that Borderlands itch.

Borderlands 3 might have many well-deserved criticisms, but Tiny Tina's Wonderlands outshone any expectations. Hopefully, both will be useful for deciding what to do and what not to do in Borderlands 4. All the buzz is definitely deserved, and hopefully, we'll know more before its release sometime in 2025.

Outer Worlds 2, RPG, Upcoming, 2025, Noobfeed

Outer Worlds 2

Look out, folks, it is the year of the Obsidian in RPG-land. Obsidian is going all out with two big releases this year. Now, as promised in one of its humorous trailers, the game plans to be 'twice as big, with most definitely having three times the effort,' Obsidian's sci-fi universe seems to want to grow, with new planets, new guns, and well, more of everything. They seem to have made the visuals more striking and given it a charm of its own.

The first Outer Worlds game was a treat despite its many setbacks. Many of these setbacks are openly acknowledged and promised to be fixed in Outer Worlds 2. Hey, it's Obsidian, and that name really means something. It is supposed to come out sometime in 2025, but it might just see a delay into 2026.
