Warframe Guide | How to Play & Master Voruna
Here's everything you need to know to master Voruna in Warframe quickly.
Game Guide by Ornstein on Aug 03, 2025
Voruna is one of the most powerful Warframes in the game, boasting insane status priming and unparalleled nuking potential. Her versatility lets you excel as a melee powerhouse or a status-effect gunrunner, adapting seamlessly to any playstyle.
This guide will look at her kit from her passive to all four powers. It will also cover key augments and builds from the beginning to the endgame, as well as give you advice on how to make her more durable and do more damage.
Passive: Wolves of Fortune

Four ethereal wolves show up as Voruna's passive. Each one is linked to one of her powers. Holding down the button for each skill lets you switch between these passive buffs at any time.
You can only have one effect at a time, so pick the one that helps you reach your present goal:
The Shroud of Dynar Passive increases parkour speed by 50%, which is excellent for getting to goals fast.
Fangs of Rash Passive provides complete immunity to status effects, countering crowd control and many damage-over-time threats.
Ly's Hunt Passive grants 90% flat melee heavy attack efficiency (capped at 90% despite displaying 100%).
Ulfrun's Descent Passive prevents lethal damage and bleeding out, triggering a 3-second invulnerability with full shields and health restoration on a 60-second cooldown.
Ability 1: Shroud of Dynar
When activated, Shroud of Dynar renders you and your companion invisible, doubling movement speed for 3 seconds at base. Invisibility ends upon any ranged or melee attack.
Breaking invisibility with a melee attack grants a 2× critical damage multiplier, sets crit chance and status chance to 100%, and guarantees a Slash proc per hit (only up to the cap of 100% for each stat).
Each kill extends the buff by 1 second, up to a maximum of 8 seconds. Use this ability to reposition safely or amplify melee bursts, but beware that constant attacking will prevent sustained invisibility.
Ability 2: Fangs of Rash
Fangs of Rash pounces on a target from afar, applying five randomized status effects with 10 stacks each (impact, puncture, slash, toxin, etc.).

You are briefly invulnerable during the lunge, and killing the target spreads the original five effects in a 7 m radius, scaled by range mods.
Rapid casting speed lets you chain pounces, priming, and spreading status effects faster than any other frame—perfect for Condition Overload builds.
Pair Fangs of Rash with Prey of Dynar for enhanced spread radius and damage vulnerability on a marked target.
Augment: Prey of Dynar
While Shroud of Dynar is active, one enemy within 25 m is highlighted and takes increased damage.
Executing Fangs of Rash on the marked target boosts its spread radius by 150% (multiplicative with range mods). Bright energy colors help track the highlighted enemy.
Ability 3: Ly's Hunt
Ly's Hunt is a toggle ability: melee kills generate health orbs, headshot kills generate energy orbs, and kills with at least five status effects extend the duration by up to 60 seconds.
This pairs perfectly with Equilibrium and Arcane Blessing for unlimited sustain as you shred foes with primed weapons or melee.
Ability 4: Ulfrun's Descent
Activating Ulfrun's Descent drops Voruna to all fours, granting five charges of slash-leap attacks that deal massive Slash damage. Each direct kill on an enemy restores one charge; kills from status-over-time do not count.
As a melee-coded attack, it benefits from Shroud of Dynar's crit and status buffs. On each leap, nearby enemies within 10 m are affected by Slash and Stagger, scaled by range mods.
Augment: Ulfrun's Endurance

When an enemy dies within 20 meters of a Slash effect of Ulfrun's Descent or Fangs of Rash, Ulfrun's Endurance recovers one charge of Ulfrun's Descent. This add-on guarantees steady charges and high damage for a long time.
Common Issues and Workarounds
Survivability: Glass-cannon tendencies can be offset by Adaptation, shield-gating mods (Reef Restite, Rolling Guard, Fast Deflection), and Ulfrun's Descent extra-life passive.
A Tow-Forged Topaz Shard (Blast, shields on kill) synergizes with status priming to replenish shields rapidly.
Ability Interaction: Shroud of Dynar's melee buff only triggers when invisibility ends naturally or upon attack, so it doesn't apply during Ulfrun's Descent leaps.
Avoid constant swapping between invisibility and descent, or build for a low duration to sync buffs.
Gameplay Loop
Upon mission start, select your desired passive wolf. Use Shroud of Dynar to reposition or set up for a burst, then Fangs of Rash on the highlighted target from Prey of Dynar.
Activate Ly's Hunt for sustain and use Ulfrun's Descent as needed (especially with Ulfrun's Endurance augment). Repeat spamming abilities while repositioning under invisibility.
Builds and Playstyles
Beginner/Budget Build: Focus on shield-gating with Fast Deflection and an Orga mod, add Equilibrium for energy sustain, and slot Prey of Dynar if available. This setup clears the star chart and early Steel Path.
Defensive Layers: Adaptation, Rolling Guard (for invulnerability), shield-gating mods, and Ulfrun's Descent passive ensure survivability. Archon mods are optional; Continuity is filler only.
Arcanes & Archon Shards: Arcane Ice Storm and Arcane Impeder amplify status-spread builds, yielding ~118% strength, 40% duration, 39% efficiency.
Two Tow shards for casting speed, one Blast shard for shields on kill; remaining slots for energy or melee critical damage.

Playstyles
Melee: Subsume Railful Advance over Ulfrun's Descent, use Condition Overload mods, Arcane Impeder, Arcane Ice Storm, and Shroud of Dynar for 100% status and crit buffs.
Ulfrun's Descent Focus: Dual augments, negative duration on Shroud of Dynar, and range builds to maximize leap damage and charge sustain with Ulfrun's Endurance.
Gunrunner: Embrace ranged weapons with Condition Overload mods, rely on Fangs of Rash priming, shield-gating, and Adaptation for survivability.
Mecha Set: Combine the Mecha mods and a Beast companion for double status spread on death, further amplified by Fangs of Rash—one of the most broken synergies in Warframe.
