PlayStation Plus is a paid feature offered to all gamers of Sony's PlayStation 4 that allows for online play and gives away free games to its subscribers each month. However, May's announcement of free games brought players nothing but disappointment, and outraged players flocked to the internet to complain.

PS Plus, Free May Games

During April, Sony had released Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4 and Codemaster's Dirt Rally 2.0 as its free games, and so PlayStation Plus subscribers were excited to see what would come next, especially during the months of quarantine. However, the May games announced ended up being Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator '19. As might be imagined, these titles were significantly less popular than many of the previous action-packed offers, and Sony has heard the cries of its consumers. Because many rumors had centered around the free games being Dark Souls: Remastered and Dying Light, thousands have signed a petition begging Sony to change the free games offered for May of 2020. As of when this article was written, 66,970 people have signed this petition, and the complaints have finally reached the ears of those responsible. Despite working tirelessly on their new PlayStation 5, confirmed to release by Christmas of 2020, Sony quickly responded to its fans and PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Sony began by announcing its "Days of Play," scheduled to begin on June 3, an event that offers the biggest deals for PlayStation games and services. Additionally, Sony has partnered with Funimation, the popular animation streaming service, to reward PlayStation Plus subscribers with 2 free months of Funimation Premium. Funimation offers shows such as My Hero Academia, One Piece, and many other animes for fans to discover and re-watch during this free trial. After the two months are up, however, the services will begin to cost subscribers $7.99 per month. Because this offer ends June 7, subscribers are encouraged to check their emails for the coupon code before time runs out.

While rumors and uncertainty still surround the games that will be released for PlayStation Plus' next batch of free games, fans are desperately hoping that Sony will learn from its mistake in May and release games that its players will enjoy, so that they will continue paying for the annual service. Do you think that PlayStation has made up for their mistake in May? What games are you hoping will be released for June? Let us know in the comments!
