No Rest for the Wicked Gets a Massive Update

No Rest for the Wicked just got an update that adds a whole lot of new features and fixes a bunch of bugs.

No Rest for the Wicked, an isometric souls-like game, recently received a significant update that has excited fans and early-access players alike. Originally released in April, the game was praised for its potential but criticized for being unpolished. In response, Moon Studios focused on refining the game's performance and addressing various technical issues during the early access phase. However, with the latest update, the developers have shifted gears, moving from bug fixes to introducing new content that expands the game world.

The big news here is the Crucible Expansion. If you’ve played the game before, you might be familiar with the Cerim Crucible, a rogue-lite mode where you face off against enemies in randomized rooms. Well, this update takes that mode and makes it three times bigger. You’ll find way more variety and challenges, which is great if you’re like me and love experimenting with different builds. Instead of earning experience, you’ll collect “echoes” that you can spend on buffs, letting you try out new strategies without locking your character into one path.

In addition to The Crucible expansion, the update introduces new content beyond the main game areas. Players can now explore expanded regions like the Black Trench and Nameless Pass, where they will encounter new challenges and enemies. The visual effects during combat have also been improved. Enemies can now be frozen, shattered, dismembered, or burst into flames.

Another cool addition is Exalted Gear, which is a new NPC vendor. As you play through Crucible events, you’ll collect Gloamseed, which you can trade with the Seneschal for all sorts of upgrades, resources, and new features in the Crucible. It adds another layer of strategy and gives you even more reasons to dive back into the game.

I should also mention that Moon Studios hasn’t forgotten about performance improvements. This patch brings optimizations that make the game run smoother, with better CPU usage, memory optimization, and more efficient cinematics. They’ve also added a lot of quality-of-life improvements. It’s clear they’re committed to making this game as polished as possible.

Now, if you’re like me, you might still be hoping for more story content or those co-op and PvP modes that are supposed to come later. But this update is a big step in the right direction. It shows that Moon Studios is moving past just fixing bugs and is now focused on adding new content and gameplay options. There hasn’t been any information out about this yet, with the way things are headed, hopefully, we will see an update from Moon Studios soon.

So, if you’ve been holding off on jumping back into No Rest for the Wicked, now might be the perfect time. The game has come a long way since its early access launch, and with these improvements and new content, it’s definitely shaping up to be a standout title in the souls-like genre. I’m excited to see where it goes next.
