Upcoming AAA games are always in the news and continue to be topics of conversation among fans long after they have been released. Earlier this year, Skybound announced their expansion into video games, starting with a Visual Novel called Atom Eve and a mobile game called Guarding The Globe, published by Ubisoft. The return of Invincible with Season 3 in 2025 is a moment of great anticipation, especially considering the success of the Invincible TV Series since its debut in March 2021. The long-awaited animated adaptation of the Blue Suit Mark, a beloved character among comic book fans, will also debut in Invincible Season 3. However, Skybound's dive into developing AAA games is set to make a noteworthy impact.

When Skybound announced their AAA game project last year, because of the unusual nature of the news, many fans were led to suspect that the AAA Invincible game was a hoax, which led to much debate. Everyone was confused because the news of the AAA Invincible game spread through a crowdfunding platform for retail investors called Republic. Skybound had a campaign where fans could put money into the game studio they were forming to create the new game. However, the fundraising campaign was successfully financed since the Invincible project exceeded its minimal objective of fifty thousand dollars, collecting approximately seven hundred thousand.

In addition to the 18 million dollars Skybound raised from a different platform in 2022, the campaign page confirms they have substantial financial support from several investment firms, including Skydance Interactive. Marvel fans will remember this four-billion-dollar conglomerate as the proprietors of Skydance New Media, the studio led by Amy Hennig, mostly known as the writer and director of Naughty Dog and involved in all the Uncharted games. This diverse financial backing reassures potential investors that the Invincible project is not an ordinary Kickstarter game.

The topic of recruiting video game talent came up in an interview with David Alpert, co-founder of Skybound Entertainment, and Jon Goldman, Managing Partner; Alpert brought up the fact that there had been rumors about the game being very significant. According to the AAA Invincible crowdfunding website, the sole source of leaked information, Amazon has already given Seasons 4 and 5 the go-ahead. However, the most intriguing part occurred when they were inquired about the difficulty of creating a game centered on someone as influential as Mark.

When asked about it, the interviewer likened it to developing a Superman video game, where the player faces an issue of either reducing the character's ability or increasing the number of enemies with similar abilities. In response, Goldman made an oblique reference to the vulture mice in the game by stating, "Well, if only there were a race of super-strong people that Mark struggles to fight."  Unfortunately, the same statement could be said about many characters, as Mark is repeatedly outmaneuvered by weaker enemies throughout the season.

While this may not be an actual issue, it is a frequent misunderstanding among those unfamiliar with Superman's comics. There are many more of his vulnerabilities than simply kryptonite. Superhero games are about more than merely hitting people; maintaining balance isn't that hard, in principle. This was, therefore, never really a cause for alarm. Nonetheless, it's encouraging that we got a sneak peek at one of the antagonist groups we'll face in-game. Hopefully, more on the Invincible AAA game will be shared once the development reaches a milestone. Their involvement with The Walking Dead series, WrestleQuest, Closer the Distance, and Escape Academy has been successful. Even if they haven't published any AAA game yet, hopefully, the Invincible game will change that soon.
