Discord SDK Glitch, Scrappy Confusion, and Marathon’s Launch Stir the Arc Raiders Community

A quick hotfix fixes a data problem, players begin to wonder about reward bonuses, and a new shooter joins the action.

The last few days have been pretty eventful for ARC Raiders players. People in the community started a bigger conversation about a small technical fix. They talked about everything from privacy concerns to game rewards and even a new rival game.

The developers just released a hotfix after finding a problem with how the game works with Discord. The problem was caused by the Discord SDK, which allegedly took in more player data than it was supposed to when users linked their Discord accounts. That made people suspicious right away because they were worried about their privacy.

Developers said, though, that the information they collected was never meant to be leaked.

Even though the bug has been fixed, it still prompted people to discuss how third-party tools like Discord handle data when they link to games. Just as that conversation was winding down, people in the community began paying closer attention to something else. This time, it's about Scrappy, a feature in the game that increases the amount of resources players get during raids by a certain percentage. It looks like an easy game mechanic: improve Scrappy to get more resources.

But some people are beginning to question whether the numbers are really working as they should.

Players have said that the resource rewards from raids stayed the same even after their Scrappy bonus was raised from about 6% to 12%, according to the reports. For example, a raid that used to give 8 units of a resource still did so after the larger bonus was unlocked. That, of course, made players scratch their heads. Does the game's method round down the bonus, or is it just not being applied correctly? The community doesn't have a clear answer, so they have to guess.

You need mushrooms to get Scrappy boosts, which has become another source of frustration for players. To level up, you need mushrooms, but they are only found in a few places on the map. Many people are going to the same places over and over again to find them. A certain place has become a busy farming area, with many players competing for the same limited supply.

A simple hunt for resources has turned into a race involving many people.

But since Marathon came out, the talk has taken on a new, interesting turn. The new Bungie extraction shooter just came out, and fans of the genre are already talking about it a lot.

The game reached a 24-hour peak of about 88,000 players on Steam, then about 30,000 regular players afterward. Even though those numbers may not seem like much for a big start, many people think the console audience could be bigger, especially since Bungie has a long history with the PlayStation platform.

It's odd that the start hasn't slowed ARC Raiders down much.

Reports say that the game still has a lot of players. At its 24-hour peak, there were about 192,000 players, and at its all-time peak, about 500,000. That means most people are still there, even as they check out new games. But many players say the game needs more new and varied content to make it fun.

The community wants better game systems and fairer ways to gather resources. It's important to fix bugs, but this is also clear. As new games like these come out all the time, people are very interested in each one. Things will be right when the next update comes out. Will the next update simply fix problems, or will it bring something new to shake up the raids? That is the main question.
