Black Ops 7 Leaks Hint at Uplink’s Return, Fortune’s Keep Revival, and a Possible New COD Era
From classic game modes to Switch 2 support, recent file discoveries paint a revealing picture of what may be coming next for COD.

Over the past few weeks, you have probably noticed just how much new information has been circulating around the future of Call of Duty. A steady stream of leaks and rumors has surfaced, pointing toward upcoming gameplay changes, new content, and some unexpected surprises. While none of this is officially confirmed yet, the details appearing in game files and insider reports are giving you a clearer idea of where the franchise might be heading next.
As always with leaks, everything remains subject to change. Files can be edited, removed, or completely scrapped before launch. Nothing becomes official until it is announced directly by Activision or one of the development studios.

Still, when multiple sources and file references line up, it usually means something is being worked on behind the scenes. That is exactly what seems to be happening right now with Black Ops 7, Warzone, and even future Call of Duty titles.
One of the most talked-about discoveries involves the possible return of Uplink in Black Ops 7. According to recent file references shared by known leakers, there are several strange mentions that appear to connect to the classic objective-based mode. While the evidence is not fully clear, and some of it could be misinterpreted, the possibility alone has caught a lot of attention.
Uplink has been absent from the series for quite some time, and many players still remember it as one of the most exciting competitive modes.
With Black Ops 7 featuring semi-advanced movement, the mode could fit naturally into the current gameplay style. Compared to similar modes like Overload, Uplink focuses more heavily on speed, positioning, and close-quarters combat.
Carrying the objective and trying to score under pressure created intense moments that stood out in past titles. If it does return, it would likely appeal to both COD veterans and newer players looking for something more dynamic.
Another major leak centers on Warzone and the potential return of Fortune’s Keep. This is something many players have been waiting to hear about for months. Recent reports suggest that early references to a Black Ops 7 version of Fortune’s Keep have now been added to the game files.
Raven Software had already said they would bring back older Resurgence maps, along with Haven's Hollow and Rebirth, before the Warzone integration update for Black Ops 7 came out. Fortune's Keep was the first map mentioned to receive a new and better version. At the time, though, no release window was given.
Many players hoped it would arrive in Season 2, but the current roadmap does not support that idea.
It also does not seem likely to appear in a Reloaded update unless it is released as a surprise. Based on current information, Season 3 appears to be the most realistic target. If that happens, Fortune’s Keep would return after several months of anticipation.
Developers have also mentioned wanting these returning maps to remain in rotation long enough to truly shine. That suggests a possible seasonal rotation system where classic Resurgence maps take center stage for extended periods.

In practice, this could mean Fortune’s Keep dominating Season 3, followed by maps like Vondel or Ashika Island in later seasons. Toward the end of the cycle, a special themed map, such as a Halloween variant, could also make a return.
All of this is happening during a transitional period for Warzone. Current leaks and industry rumors strongly point toward a major reset tied to Modern Warfare 4, expected near the end of the year. With that reset, many older maps are unlikely to carry over into the next era. Instead, the focus will likely shift to entirely new environments.
That makes the remaining seasons of the current Warzone era especially important for revisiting fan-favorite locations.
On the Zombies side, files have revealed early signs of a new limited-time mode called Battle. This appears to be a round-based mode that may feature player-versus-player elements within the traditional Zombies format. It could share similarities with older modes like Grief, where teams compete while surviving waves of enemies.
Right now, very little is known about how Battle will actually work. The current files only show that the concept exists and is being tested. More details will likely emerge in future updates as additional references are added. For now, it seems to represent an experimental direction for Zombies that could offer a different kind of competitive experience.
There are also leaks of cosmetic content. Reports say that Season 2 Reloaded or Season 3 may add bundles based on Black Ops 2, featuring operators modeled after Navy SEALs and Mercs. It looks like these bundles are more about realistic military looks than flashy designs. If you like grounded graphics inspired by classic Call of Duty themes, this could be a welcome addition.
Multiplayer fans also received some interesting information through newly discovered map references. Several familiar names have appeared in the files, suggesting that more remasters are on the way. These include WMD, Plaza, Vertigo, Firing Range, and Gridlock.
It wouldn't be surprising if WMD came back because it has been remade many times before.
People have been talking about Plaza for a long time, and it was leaked with Yemen and Meltdown, both of which are already out. The fact that it is still in the files suggests that it is still planned.
Vertigo, which was first a Black Ops 2 DLC map, is a deeper cut that might appeal to fans who have been around for a while. The Firing Range is already confirmed and will be included in an update coming soon. Gridlock is the last well-known classic on the list.
These maps are unlikely to appear all at once. Instead, they will probably be distributed across multiple seasons. This approach allows devs to maintain steady content drops and keep multiplayer fresh throughout the year.
One of the strangest discoveries involves references to an unknown future Call of Duty project. New files point to code names linked to battle royale and multiplayer components that do not match any known upcoming title. Modern Warfare 4 is currently labeled as Rex, and Sledgehammer’s next project is known as Zuul, but neither of these new identifiers fits either.

It might be an early placeholder for a distant project, a deliberate attempt to hide development details, or even the foundation for an entirely new game. The fact that these references appear within the current COD HQ system is notable. Many players hope the next era of Call of Duty will move away from the centralized HQ model entirely.
Finally, recent leaks have added more fuel to the discussion about Call of Duty coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Microsoft previously committed to bringing the franchise to Nintendo platforms with the same launch schedule as other systems. New files related to Switch support have now appeared in Black Ops 7’s data.
Early rumors suggested that Black Ops 7 or Warzone might be the first major releases on Switch, but more recent information points to Modern Warfare 4 as the likely debut title. A recent Nintendo Direct did not include any Call of Duty announcements, suggesting the project is still being refined. Even so, signs indicate that a return to Nintendo hardware may happen within the year.
When you put all these leaks together, they show the franchise is preparing for both nostalgia and change. Black Ops 7 and its surrounding ecosystem seem to be entering a very active phase. There are rumors of Uplink and Fortune's Keep returning, new Zombies modes, remastered classic maps, future projects, and maybe even Switch support.
