Epic Goads Apple With Tournament Skin, Shipped Prizes
Epic is encouraging players to abandon iOS with possible free hardware.

Following their recent lawsuits with Apple and Google, Epic has announced the #FreeFornite Cup coming to all other versions of Fortnite. Epic is encouraging all previous iOS players to switch to a new platform and to especially download the Epic Games App. In a planned move, Epic had implemented a means for players to make in-game purchases that bypassed the App Store and Google Play’s systems, denying those companies their standard percentage cuts. Both mobile platforms quickly suspended Fortnite, with Epic countering with a lawsuit citing antitrust violations.
The #FreeFornite Cup itself starts on August 23 and will allow players to earn points by participating in the competitive playlist. Points will be awarded for playtime, eliminations, and victories. Everyone who manages to gain 10 points will earn the Tart Tycoon skin, an apple headed business man and villain of Epic’s recent Nineteen Eighty Fortnite promo. The top 20,000 players will receive Free Fortnite baseball cap. Finally, the top 1,200 players will have a chance to earn gaming hardware including consoles, laptops, tablets, and phones.
