The fear of failure is gone. Assassin's Creed Shadows was a major success for Ubisoft, and they are taking a break for all the good reasons. The company has decided to delay some of its most anticipated games to focus on quality and long-term success. This decision comes after a major internal review of their game development pipeline.

There may not be many big games coming out in 2025, but the next two fiscal years look like they will be huge. Ubisoft plans to release these things before April 2026. This list shows what has been pushed back, what is still on track, and what you need to know.

It's been reported that Ubisoft has decided to delay some important games after reviewing its plans from October to December. The goal is to improve the quality and ensure that the launch conditions are as good as possible. This plan worked with Assassin's Creed Shadows, which was pushed back from November to March at first. The extra time helped get the game ready for launch in a very good state.

Ubisoft is now using the same reasoning for a number of its most important games, such as Far Cry 7, Splinter Cell Remake, and the next Ghost Recon. So, Ubisoft thinks that its finances will grow a lot in fiscal years 2026–27 and 2027–28. Fiscal year 2025–26, which runs from April 2025 to March 2026, will not have many big releases.

A late but among Ubisoft’s most ambitious makeover ongoing project is Far Cry 7. The game was supposed to come out in late 2025, but now it will come out in the fall of 2026, most likely between October and November. Ubisoft has big plans for Far Cry 7, like adding a 24-hour timer to help you save your family, more ways to move, like tactical sprinting, sliding, and vaulting, and a new way to keep track of your items and loot.

They are also working on a new Far Cry universe extraction shooter that can be played independently. This multiplayer-focused spin-off will have survival elements and aim to add more types of gameplay to the franchise than just traditional single-player stories.

Apart from Far Cry 7, Ghost Recon is also making a comeback as bigger, bolder, and maybe even as first-person. The next Ghost Recon, which is being worked on and has the code name "Over," might be a first-person tactical military shooter. This type of game has done well with hits like Squad, Ready or Not, and even more popular shooters like Modern Warfare and Battlefield.

It's still unclear whether Ubisoft will use a mix of first- and third-person views or only first-person views. But one thing is for sure: this will be a big change for the series, which hasn't had a mainline book since Breakpoint in 2019. If it does come out in 2026 or even early 2027, it will have had the longest development cycle in the franchise's history.

However, Splinter Cell Remake has been behind bars for a while now. The remake of Splinter Cell, codenamed "North," is also very much anticipated. It is mostly being made by the same people who worked on Far Cry 6. The game has been in development for almost five years, which means it probably won't come out until at least 2026. Ubisoft seems determined to bring this beloved IP back to life with the care and attention it deserves. If they do this well, it should pay off.

Another remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is also in the pipeline, and it’s coming soon. Ubisoft has also confirmed again that the long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will come out before April 2026, ending a painful five-year wait.

The project was supposed to start in January 2021, but harsh criticism of its early visuals meant that it had to undergo many changes. Ubisoft now wants to release this classic game between January and March in the first quarter of 2026. They hope it will be a success and rekindle fans' faith in the franchise's remakes.

Then there are the Assassin's Creed games getting ready for the Holidays. The next big Assassin's Creed game, Codename Hexe, is a horror-themed witchcraft game that began development soon after Valhalla ended. When Codename Hexe comes out in the holidays of 2026, it will have been in development for more than five years, which is longer than any other Assassin's Creed game to date.

Ubisoft is betting heavily on Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe being a Halloween hit, especially since it has some pretty scary themes. Shadows needed more time to be polished, but Codename Hexe is said to be on track and should come out on time unless big changes happen.

While Assassin's Creed: Codename Hexe is highly anticipated, Black Flag Remake could come out sooner. The remake of Sands of Time is set to come out in early 2026, but the remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag could come out before it. Though it hasn't been confirmed, rumors point to a launch in late 2025, which would strategically take advantage of the holiday season.

Ubisoft reportedly knows how important it is to get this remake right since it will be the model for all future remasters. If they need more time to finish the project, they'll probably take it, but the goal right now is to release it before March 2026.
