GTA 6 Leak Problems Grow as More Unreleased Gameplay Appears
A new leak countdown reportedly points to another batch of footage, while details about police, water exploration, customization, and Leonida’s map continue to emerge ahead of Rockstar’s next major reveal.

The latest situation surrounding GTA 6 has reportedly gone from a major leak into something Rockstar may have to deal with on a daily basis. A leaker known as Cyber League has apparently placed a countdown on another potential release, with reports claiming that another batch of material could arrive on August 19 at 8:00 PM Eastern.
The person behind the leaks is reportedly claiming that between two and four additional leaks could be released, although it remains unclear whether those will consist of videos, screenshots, or a mixture of both.

The situation is even more interesting because the leaker has already described some of the material in detail.
Among the reported footage are Lucia traveling through the Leonida swamps in an airboat, an encounter with an alligator, gun customization, a trunk inventory system, and a five-star police response involving spike strips.
None of those unreleased clips should be treated as confirmed until they actually appear, but several of the claims reportedly line up with information that has already emerged from the recent leaked material.
The possibility of additional leaks also changes the nature of the situation for Rockstar and Take-Two. The companies could potentially find themselves dealing with individual clips appearing one after another, instead of managing one large collection of development footage that can be removed through takedowns.
People can download and repost the material before another batch arrives, creating a cycle that becomes much harder to contain. This would be particularly inconvenient because the reported leaks are emerging shortly before Rockstar is expected to have a major opportunity to control the conversation around the game.
August 18 had already become one of the most significant GTA 6 leak days since the infamous 2022 development footage leak, with development material and map information spreading online before Take-Two reportedly began issuing takedowns.
Cyber League, however, appears to be threatening further releases rather than treating the latest material as a one-time dump. According to reports from Insider Gaming, some of the material may be coming out gradually because the leaker was apparently being rate-limited, which could explain why the information is being released in separate batches rather than all at once.

The timing is particularly notable because Rockstar is reportedly preparing for a major August 27 extended look at GTA 6.
That means the company could potentially spend the days leading up to its reveal responding to leaked footage and information instead of presenting everything according to its planned schedule. The reported countdown therefore adds another layer of uncertainty to a marketing campaign that Rockstar would presumably want to control as closely as possible.
Some of the alleged upcoming footage also connects with mechanics that the leaked material has already identified. Gun customization and the trunk inventory system, for example, are not completely isolated claims if previous footage has already shown Jason interacting with vehicle storage and loadout options.
Likewise, reports of a more extensive police response fit with footage that reportedly showed the return of a six-star maximum wanted level. The possibility of police deploying spike strips at five stars would therefore represent an extension of a system that players may have already received a glimpse of.
Lucia traveling through the swamps in an airboat could provide another significant look at the world outside Vice City. The leaked information surrounding Leonida increasingly suggests that water will play a major role in how players explore the map.
If the alleged footage does appear, it could provide another indication that areas such as the swamps, islands, and surrounding waterways are designed to be meaningful parts of the game rather than simply scenery surrounding the main city.
There is also another major question surrounding the age of the leaked footage.
Insider Gaming has reportedly indicated that GTA 6 preview activity may already be taking place, potentially giving selected press outlets or creators access to newer material ahead of the August 27 extended look.

That could explain why some major outlets and creators have remained unusually quiet while older development footage spreads online. If those people are participating in an official preview, they would obviously have little reason to repost stolen development footage and risk damaging their relationship with Rockstar and Take-Two.
At the same time, there is currently no clear indication that Cyber League’s leaked footage came from any current preview activity. Reports attributed to Nate the Hate have suggested that the gameplay videos are more than a year old, while metadata reportedly examined from the files dates some of the footage to 2024 or earlier.
If that information is accurate, the material would represent a much older version of the game from a development period around the time of the second trailer rather than the build Rockstar may be showing privately in August 2026.
That distinction is important because older development footage can provide an intriguing look at the game without necessarily representing its final form. The leaked material is reportedly running at 30 frames per second with ray tracing enabled, and the lighting, shadows, animations, and textures appear considerably more advanced than the infamous 2022 footage.
But there are still visible unfinished elements: a developmental interface and crude-looking driving behavior. Rockstar could have made major changes or improvements to those systems since they recorded the footage.
If some of the footage is from 2024 or earlier, it makes the information even more difficult to interpret.
If Rockstar has had well over a year to continue development since the footage was captured, some of the mechanics being discussed could have changed significantly. At the same time, the footage still provides an indication of the systems Rockstar was experimenting with during that stage of development.

One of the most interesting areas is the structure of Leonida itself. Information circulating from the leaked map reportedly suggests that the state is divided into five counties. Mariana County reportedly includes the Leonida Keys and Grass Rivers, while Viceale County contains Vice City.
The same information suggests that the game could feature roughly ten cities and towns alongside smaller settlements, wilderness areas, and a large number of islands. Estimates circulating online have suggested that the map could be around twice the size of GTA 5.
The leaked map information reportedly includes locations such as Dalton Island, Gloriana Key, and Catalan Key, with additional smaller islands scattered throughout the surrounding ocean. That geography could make water transportation much more important than it was in GTA 5.
The swamps could be especially important in this regard. Grass Rivers reportedly contains large wetlands, and Rockstar's previous official material has already placed significant emphasis on wildlife and the natural environments surrounding Vice City.
Another interesting detail is that Jason has a safe house in the Keys.
The property is said to include an area where players can launch jet skis and boats off a trailer right into the water. That might seem a minor feature, but it might be a hint that watercraft are being seen as functional gear rather than as vehicles that just turn up at certain places.
The scale of Vice City's airport reportedly supports the same approach. Compared with Los Santos International Airport in GTA 5, Vice City's airport is said to be considerably larger, with Rockstar apparently aiming for airport infrastructure and aircraft to exist at more believable proportions.

Perhaps the most significant gameplay detail to emerge from the leaked material, however, concerns the police system. During one leaked confrontation involving Jason, viewers reportedly noticed three separate indicators beneath the wanted stars that appear to correspond to his clothing or appearance, his face, and his vehicle.
If those indicators are genuinely part of the game, they could suggest that law enforcement does not simply possess instant knowledge of the player's identity. Instead, police may be tracking specific information about what they have actually seen.
That could change how people escape from the police. If officers identify Jason's vehicle, it could become part of the information they use to search for him. If they identify his face or clothing, those details could potentially be tracked separately.
That does not necessarily mean changing Jason's shirt will instantly remove a wanted level, but the apparent separation of these categories suggests Rockstar may be creating a more detailed system for how police identify and pursue the player.
The police search itself may also work differently from GTA 5.
Analysis of the footage reportedly suggests that individual officers do not simply remain perfectly visible on the minimap while searching for Jason. Instead, the search area reportedly flashes blue and red, while another indicator around the edge of the screen provides a general idea of where pursuing officers are located.

All of this remains based on leaked material and reported information rather than Rockstar's official confirmation. The age of some of the footage also means that certain mechanics could have changed significantly before release.
For Rockstar, the biggest problem may now be the frequency of the leaks rather than any single piece of footage. If Cyber League continues releasing material in small batches, Take-Two could be forced into a repeated cycle of removing clips while new ones continue appearing.
With another reported drop scheduled for August 19 and a major official presentation reportedly planned for August 27, the coming days could become increasingly difficult for Rockstar to control.
