Insomniac Games is once again making waves in the gaming world. New reports indicate that the renowned studio is developing three major AAA Marvel games. Fans are already excited about Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel's Spider-Man 3, but there is growing evidence that a third game, which hasn't been announced yet—possibly a standalone Venom game—is in the works and could be released even sooner.

Sources indicate that a senior character and concept artist's LinkedIn profile revealed they were working on three Insomniac projects simultaneously: Marvel's Wolverine and two other titles that haven't been announced yet. This artist also worked on Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which adds to the rumors that the studio is preparing to introduce another major game to the Marvel gaming universe.

This wouldn't be the first time this has happened. Insomniac, which has more than 500 employees, previously worked on Spider-Man Remastered, Miles Morales, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart simultaneously, and did a great job on all of them. In July 2023, Aaron Eberhart, who had previously been the project's director, announced that an unannounced game was already in development, alongside Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine.

Some people think that the third project could be a new game in the Ratchet & Clank series, while others believe that the studio is focusing more on its partnership with Marvel. Given the success of its previous Marvel games, which were highly popular and generated substantial revenue, the unannounced project is likely to be another superhero game. And everything points towards a Venom game.

Fans have been asking for a standalone game about the famous symbiote for a long time, especially since Venom was a playable character in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and during the PS5 launch of Spider-Man 2, narrative director John Paquette hinted that the team would "listen to the fans" about a possible Venom spin-off. The response from fans has been very positive.

If the game is released, it will likely feature a more complex story for Eddie Brock/Venom and may conclude with a massive fight against Cletus Kasady, also known as Carnage. Some reports suggest that the rumored Venom game would be larger than Miles Morales but smaller than Spider-Man 2. This would make it easier to make the game faster.

Reports from Gamer Rant and other industry insiders suggest that the game may be released in late 2026. This would be Insomniac's next big Marvel game, after Wolverine and Spider-Man 3. People also believe that the Venom project will utilize the Decima engine, which is the same powerful toolset used in Death Stranding and Horizon Forbidden West. This will make sure that the graphics are very realistic and the worlds are vast.

It is reported that the game is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 5, aligning with Insomniac's trend of creating games for PlayStation consoles. If this is true, Venom would be one of the most essential PS5 games in the second half of the console's life.

At the same time, Marvel's Wolverine is still in development. A post from Insomniac in May 2025 said that new PlayStation interns would be joining the Wolverine team directly. This means that the project is well underway, but it will likely still require some time to reach full production. Insiders now think that Wolverine will come out in 2027, and Spider-Man 3 might come out in 2029 as a game for both the PS5 and the new PlayStation 6.

According to reports from individuals who work at Insomniac and development schedules, the company's rumored release schedule is as follows: Venom is expected to be released in late 2026, followed by Marvel's Wolverine in 2027, and concluding with Marvel's Spider-Man 3 in 2029.

Insomniac is moving forward with its ambitious lineup, despite challenges, such as a major hacking incident in 2023 that exposed development materials. If these rumors are true, the studio is not only expanding the Marvel gaming universe, but it's also raising the bar for superhero games with compelling stories.

There hasn't been an official announcement about the Venom title yet, but everything from developer resumes to industry rumors suggests that something big is hiding in the shadows. Fans might not have to wait long for the symbiote to get its movie, thanks to Insomniac's experience and Sony's support.
