New Character Snippets Reveal Fire Emblem Tactical Depth
Nintendo is releasing gameplay clips in small doses rather than one big drop, and that's actually a good thing for fans.

If you've been keeping tabs on the official Fire Emblem Japan X account, you've probably noticed the steady drip of information coming out about Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Nothing story-breaking, just short clips highlighting characters and the allies surrounding the main cast.
Two names worth knowing right now are Bonaparte and Buccaneer. Bonaparte is the right-hand man of Theodora and a seasoned general from the kingdom of Samaris, yet he is a warrior even at his age. It is the most fascinating part about him that Bonaparte hails from a kingdom where the practice of writing is banned.

Thus, having all the information stored in his head because he has memorized all that history, debates, and poetry there was to memorize. One could say that the ban on writing is a very convenient way of controlling the story by those in power, as the only things passed on are what people remember.
Bonaparte fits right into the battle-hardened aesthetic Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave seems to be going for.
In his combat clip, you can see him wielding magic against multiple opponents, and if you've played any Fire Emblem title before, you already know how devastating spellcasting can be in this series. He's not limited to magic either, since he also fights with a sword when things get up close.
The transition from the overworld map into actual battle looks seamless too, with no noticeable loading or hitching between the two. Buccaneer is another character in the story, a seasoned warrior nicknamed the Demon Bear, and rightly so considering his appearance.
He has worked for Leda’s father for many years, hence the reason why he still calls her "M'lady" out of courtesy. He is accompanying her on her revenge-seeking adventure, but it seems like he is not quite sure where it will end up taking her. The personality traits of this character show that he has the potential to be a mentor.
The clip involving Buccaneer includes a flashback where he looks back on his younger, more hot-headed years, revealing he crossed paths with Leda's father over two decades ago. On the battlefield, you'll see him relying on his sheer physical durability to absorb hits while countering with his axe.
There were fans online who noted that some of the animations seem like they've been copied from Fire Emblem Engage.
Although honestly, this shouldn't really be a problem for you. There were some great animations in Fire Emblem Engage, so it makes sense to use those as a basis for creating something new. It's possible that the developers are basing their game on both Fire Emblem Engage and Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Regardless, so far, everything looks great, and Buccaneer delivers a lot of heavy hits.

Taking all of this information into account, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave seems like it's going to turn out to be an enormous game. Full of different routes, many characters, and combat possibilities. It is obvious that such a game is going to require a lot of commitment from the player to be completed in its entirety.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses had quite enough content in it; therefore, any improvements to the production process without harming the quality of the game are always welcome. Otherwise, another ten years of waiting would be inevitable.
From everything that has been discovered so far, it seems that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will be a huge game with lots of different routes, characters, and weapon types. This looks like a game that will require some significant time investment to be completed properly.
The previous Fire Emblem: Three Houses had an absolutely enormous amount of content.
Therefore, if the development team manages to reduce their development time in any way possible, this would be a good thing to do. Otherwise, one would have to wait for another decade or so for a new main installment. Having taken into account the amount of time that has passed since Fire Emblem: Three Houses, one can say that the upgrades seen here are significant.
Everything flows smoothly, the fights look perfect, and the boost in graphics proves that the Nintendo Switch 2 is indeed a step forward compared to its predecessor. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave uses all these features to their full advantage. What's especially refreshing is how Nintendo is choosing to market this one.
Rather than front-loading every detail, they're spacing things out with small, digestible clips you can watch or skip depending on your interest in avoiding spoilers. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave was first revealed during last year's September Nintendo Direct with a brief teaser trailer, followed by a second trailer during this year's June Direct.

That's essentially all the footage fans have gotten so far, no major gameplay deep dives, no story spoilers, nothing overwhelming. The closer we get to the release date, the bigger revelations will be made, but the pattern resembles how Fire Emblem: Three Houses was being revealed.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave still has plenty of secrets left before its September release.
Three Houses kept all of its big secrets until very late in its marketing cycle. Not even the time skip twist of that game was known until the day of release. The gradual unveiling will make sure that any fan who wants to go in completely blind can do so.
Given that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is scheduled for release on September 17th, there is still ample time for Nintendo to step up its marketing efforts and give an overview presentation. Until that happens, keep waiting for a steady stream of such small character unveilings, which will give you enough of a preview without spilling the beans about the bigger picture.
