Nintendo Direct March 2025 Recap: Every Game Announced

A Farewell to the Switch Era and Nintendo's latest attempt at digital game sharing.

News by Sabi on  Mar 28, 2025

It appears that the original Switch still has some life left in it. Nintendo presented a surprising Switch 1 Direct today, which seemed like the last presentation for the console. As expected, Nintendo didn't reveal much about their upcoming console, which is something for us to look forward to in next week's Switch 2 Direct.

While some highly anticipated announcements were made, as well as some surprising ones, here is a list of all the announcements made during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct. Assuming all the games that were shown in this Switch 1 Direct will surely be playable on Switch 2.

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake

Insufficient fan-favorite titles and unanticipated announcements combined have led to mixed responses to the last Nintendo Direct for the original Switch. Although some of the games displayed were popular, many fell short of what fans expected for the great farewell of Nintendo's cherished hybrid machine.

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake was among the most notable announcements. Widely praised for its clean graphics and meticulous detail, it was also obvious that Nintendo wanted to finish the Switch's life cycle before the Switch 2 launch in April, since most of the games displayed were planned for release this year.

No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files

No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files, March 2025 Nintendo Direct, NoobFeed

Fans of AI: The Somnium Files will soon be able to look forward to some interesting news about the beloved protagonist, Kaname Date, which is totally unexpected. All the while, the series keeps drawing viewers with its engaging story and mysterious twists; it is expected that a fresh set of events will be published in the near future.

Scheduled to launch on July 25, 2025, details are still being kept under wraps, but the announcement suggests Date's trip is far from over. This new chapter promises to dive deeper into the psychological thriller elements that were the driving force behind the popularity of the first volume of AI: The Somnium Files. Undoubtedly, there is a dedicated audience eagerly awaiting new content. Once more, players will be on the edge of their seats as the probe into Kaname Date is likely to get far more intense.

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, March 2025 Nintendo Direct, NoobFeed

Players once more walk into the shoes of Raidou Kuzunoha, a teenage detective charged with unraveling the mystery of the Soulless Army, a gathering of malevolent forces endangering the planet set in an alternate Taisho-era Japan. Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army remains one of Atlus' most unappreciated treasures with its interesting plot, ambient environment, and rich fighting system.

While preserving the unusual appeal that made the original so memorable, this remaster allows both old and new fans the opportunity to enjoy the game with a contemporary touch. This upgraded edition will launch on June 19, 2025, and will surely provide hours of fascinating mystery-solving and demon-filled action, whether you are a long-time fan or a beginner to the Shin Megami Tensei cosmos.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Though many of the last Nintendo Direct announcements left fans split, one stood head and shoulders above the others: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Years of waiting later, we finally saw the newest installment of the cherished franchise—it seems really amazing. The trailer verified that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will release in 2025 and, maybe most unexpectedly, on the original Nintendo Switch.

Much like Breath of the Wild, launched on both the Wii U and the Switch, there had been much conjecture that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond might be a cross-generation game. That appears to be precisely what is occurring here. Although the Switch 2 version may have better graphics and features, the Switch version will still be remarkable, highlighting the possibilities of the system in its late years.

For franchise lovers, this news marks their long-awaited time. With its lost planets and mysterious mythology, the Metroid Prime series has always been the apex of exploration and evocative narrative. From what we have seen thus far, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond seems to be carrying on that legacy and looks every bit as interesting as its predecessors, if not more.

There were also other interesting possibilities hinted at in the trailer, such as the potential Dark Samus making an appearance, which would increase the level of suspense and excitement. The statement was so exceptional that it is difficult not to be excited about what is going to happen next, even though there is mounting suspicion that the game may be delayed.

After a long period of anticipation, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has emerged as the most anticipated game of the Direct. I, for one, am completely excited about the prospect of venturing into territory that has not yet been explored.

Pokémon Legends Z-A

Pokémon Legends Z-A, March 2025 Nintendo Direct, NoobFeed

Pokémon Z-A's release, scheduled for late 2025, is without a doubt among the more interesting Direct announcements. Set in a big metropolis where players catch Pokémon during the day and fight other trainers at night in an attempt to rise 26 ranks, the game offers a new idea. The final aim? To get to the top and see your wish fulfilled. On paper, it's a fresh spin on the traditional Pokémon recipe and sounds like an interesting and unusual path for the company.

Though the idea seemed good, the images fell far short. Though Pokémon Legends: Z-A feels like it's already behind, even before release, the Pokémon games have not exactly been recognized for cutting-edge graphics. Given the developments we've observed on other platforms, the textures seem empty and fuzzy, which is somewhat disappointing. While some supporters contend that graphics are unimportant in a Pokémon game, it is difficult to overlook them when they are so poor.

I can't help but think that this is another Pokémon game, probably created with the original Switch in mind; thus, I would want a game really made for the Switch 2. At this stage, it's difficult to get rid of the impression that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is obsolete even before it reaches the market. For a game meant to advance the franchise, the graphics are somewhat disappointing, but I hope the gameplay and whole experience can make up for them.

Rhythm Heaven Groove

Rhythm Heaven returns, and it's among the two largest Direct shocks. The cherished rhythm game series is returning after years of fan requests, and to be honest, I couldn't be more thrilled. Rhythm Heaven has always been one of those goofy, enjoyable, and unexpectedly addictive games you can't stop playing.

Rhythm Heaven is a perfect illustration of Nintendo's amazing ability to produce classy, low-cost games with little teams. After years of literally zero updates, it's wonderful to see the series finally getting another chance. It's one of those games that doesn't require a large budget to provide hours of fun. Fans have been pleading for its comeback for so long; now it is obvious Nintendo has been paying attention.

Patapon 1+2 Replay

As a Patapon lover, the release of Patapon 1+2 Replay on Switch on July 11, 2025, particularly caught my attention. If you have ever played the PSP rhythm-based strategy game, you understand how addictive it may be.

This latest Switch release feels like a personal triumph for me, as someone who spent many hours jailbreaking their PSP to play as many games as humanly possible. Its unique art style and interesting gameplay set it apart, and its launch on the Switch will definitely thrill both old and new fans.

Sony's choice to bring these games to Nintendo Switch underlines a change in approach as they have come to embrace multiplatform releases more and more. Though PlayStation is still their main emphasis, they have indicated a desire to offer certain of their vintage titles on PCs, including the Switch. Especially for gamers looking forward to playing cherished PlayStation titles on another system, this is a surprising but welcome action.

Witchbrook

The next magical RPG from the developers of Stardew Valley, Witchbrook, was one of the more surprising but thrilling announcements at the most recent Nintendo Direct. It's scheduled to be released during the holiday season. The game transports players to a magical academy where they may create potions, study spells, and engage in an open world rich with mystery and charm. Fans of cozy farming games and magical adventures will be in for a delight.

The revelation highlighted a peek of the colorful student life at the academy, mythical animals, and the quirky town. Set in a wonderfully designed setting, Witchbrook is turning out to be a lovely mix of farming, exploration, and character interaction. You will go to school, make friends, and maybe find some mysteries about the wonderful world you live in.

Many were caught off guard by the statement, particularly in relation to Stardew Valley, which attracted supporters of that cherished game. Although the gameplay is obviously magical, its soothing speed and appealing art design provide it with the same laid-back feel that Stardew Valley aficionados appreciate. Though some may have wanted a little more detail on the game's release or features, the announcement was plenty to excite fans about the prospect of another snug and immersive experience approaching.

Apart from these, several upcoming Switch games were highlighted in the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, and Nintendo confirmed release dates for a number of upcoming Switch titles.
