Grand Theft Auto 6 is THE most anticipated game of 2025 - if it's even published this year. There's so much hype for it, so many rumors flying about it, and so many claimed leaks, all before Rockstar offers us anything remotely substantial on how it'll play or what it's even about.

It's amazing to see so many people back a game despite a complete and utter lack of information about it, as it says a lot about how much sway and legacy Rockstar has built up over the years from its rather phenomenal release of games.

PlayStation, GTA 6, Launch

However, when someone like Greg Rice mentions it, it becomes even more exciting. There's hardly any doubt that Grand Theft Auto 6, set to be released in the fall of 2025, is one of the most anticipated launches in gaming history. Sony's head of PlayStation Creators, Greg Rice, has remarked that GTA 6's release will bring an economic boost to the industry. Speaking to GamesRadar during the Game Developers Conference 2025, Rice discussed how GTA 6 might even attract a new audience to gaming.

While Rice recognizes that some gamers might only play GTA 6 after it's released, he also feels that others might find games in the format and, in turn, help develop the industry. GTA 6 is going to be the most enormous game for the year, for sure, as mentioned by Rice. He mentioned hearing a lot of the opposite of developers scared about it, taking away all the space. He doesn't want to launch during GTA week or even month because that's all anyone's going to be playing.

However, he also thinks the industry has matured enough that there's space for that and for other things as well. A combination of games will be successful around GTA 6 time because they're absolutely different, and it'll also draw a lot more people back into the ecosystem. According to Rice, the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 will also benefit smaller games.

While these smaller titles may not be able to compete directly with GTA 6 in terms of sales, they will benefit from a new audience that has bought a console for the first time and might be looking for other games to play along with GTA 6.

It's great that we're hearing a PlayStation Executive directly acknowledge and talk about GTA 6 in this way. He is stating the obvious but also has an optimistic outlook regarding other games that will be around GTA 6. Even this PlayStation executive seems to believe that this game is going to undoubtedly achieve tremendous things for the entire industry.

Additionally, Rice mentions that Sony seems to be betting that GTA 6 will attract a whole new demographic of PS5 gamers. We think that's the most interesting insight into how Sony is anticipating GTA 6 internally.
