Star Wars Zero Company is slowly revealing more of what players can expect, even if the full gameplay showcase fans have been waiting for has yet to arrive. While recent appearances have focused more on the game's characters than its tactical combat, things finally appear to be moving toward a proper gameplay reveal.
The game recently appeared during San Diego Comic-Con, where many fans hoped the event would include an extended gameplay demonstration. Instead, the presentation focused primarily on introducing the cast and the people bringing those characters to life.

Actors behind several major roles appeared during the panel, while short clips highlighted the personalities of key members of Zero Company. Although it wasn't the mission-based gameplay many were expecting, it did offer a closer look at the people driving the story.
Following Comic-Con, EA has started releasing a series of short character spotlight videos across social media.
Four clips have been shared so far, each introducing one of the game's major characters while offering brief glimpses of their appearance and personality. The videos only last around 12 to 15 seconds each, but together they begin painting a clearer picture of the squad you'll be leading throughout the campaign.
The first spotlight introduces Hawks, the leader of an unusual group of hired professionals known as Zero Company. He seems to be the main guy that keeps the team together as they go on more and more dangerous missions across the galaxy. The clip itself is short but it presents him as the driving force of the organization.
The second character we meet is Trick, who has a dry sense of humor that hides a much darker past. The official description depicts him as "rediscovering his purpose of joining Company Zero." Like the other videos, the clip only offers a glimpse of his personality and leaves a lot of his backstory unexplained.
Next we are introduced to Runa, the tactician in charge of Zero Company's operations. She is still uncertain about working for the Republic, but in the end she feels that protecting the galaxy is more important. Her role indicates she will be one of the team’s main decision-makers behind the scenes, not just another soldier on the battlefield.
Fathom, the game’s main nemesis, is the last to be spotlighted.
She stands at the center of a plot to unleash the Shadow Plague across the galaxy and is described as cold, patient, and constantly thinking several moves ahead. Unlike the other three clips, this introduction focuses entirely on the threat players will eventually face. It also provides a clearer sense of the larger conflict driving the campaign.

These character reveals follow several other details that have surfaced over the past few weeks. The developers have confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will follow a mostly linear structure without romance options, making it much closer to XCOM than a traditional role-playing game like Dragon Age.
That direction may have surprised some players, but it aligns with what many expected from the tactical strategy title. The developers have also confirmed that the main campaign will take about 30 to 40 hours to complete.
That estimated playtime is a helpful way to give players a better idea of the commitment involved, especially given how crowded the upcoming release schedule has become. Star Wars Zero Company will be released on the same day as Resident Evil: Plague Legacy and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, making it one of several major releases arriving at once.
Based on its expected length, however, Zero Company is likely to demand the biggest time investment for many players. The schedule becomes even busier with The Blood of Dawnwalker arriving less than a week later.
Although the steady stream of information has been welcomed.
Many fans have continued asking for a proper gameplay demonstration rather than another series of short promotional clips. Across social media, more players have begun requesting an extended mission showcase that demonstrates exactly how the tactical gameplay works.
The requests have largely remained respectful, but they also highlight how eager players are to see the game in action. Character introductions have helped build excitement, yet many still want to see how everything comes together during an actual mission.

Fortunately, it appears that wait is almost over. Content creator Battlefront Updates confirmed that they will get access to a preview build of Star Wars Zero Company through EA and will share gameplay footage and impressions on August 11. That announcement effectively confirms that extended gameplay coverage is finally on the way.
The preview timing lines up closely with the game's August 27 launch, arriving just over two weeks before release.
That schedule strongly suggests preview coverage will include substantial gameplay rather than simply additional discussion about the game's features. With media impressions expected alongside gameplay footage, players should finally get answers about how Zero Company's tactical systems function during actual missions.
With the countdown now underway, Star Wars Zero Company appears to be entering the final stretch of its marketing campaign. New details are arriving almost every week as EA continues to build anticipation ahead of launch.
Recent character spotlights have established the team's core cast and introduced the game's main villain, and the confirmed preview event promises the gameplay showcase many fans have been waiting for. If all goes as planned, the next few weeks should give us the most detailed look yet at the game before it officially launches later this month.
