In Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH), vegetables are six new growable plants that can be farmed to obtain new culinary and crafting materials. This guide provides instructions on how to cultivate potatoes, tomatoes, wheat, sugarcane, carrots, and pumpkins.

Vegetable & Crop Types

Tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, wheat, sugarcane, and pumpkins are among the six distinct varieties of vegetables that can be planted and cultivated in Animal Crossing: New Horizons with Version 2.0.

How To Get & Buy Vegetable Seeds

Leif's kiosk, located in Harvey's Shopping Plaza, is the primary source of vegetable seeds of all varieties. These seeds can be purchased by either a random visitor to your island at Resident Services or his permanent shop.

Leif will sell two distinct, random varieties of produce seeds at a time, including Carrot Start, Pumpkin Start, Seed Potato, Sugarcane Start, Tomato Start, and Wheat Start. Each vegetable start is priced at 280 Bells, or 1400 Bells for a volume pack of five.

Additionally, it is possible to locate vegetables to cultivate at abandoned farms located on Mystery Islands during Kapp'n Boat Tours.

Buy Pumpkin Seeds During October

For your Halloween celebration, Pumpkin Starts are available for purchase daily in the large cabinet at Nook's Cranny exclusively during the month of October.

How To Plant Vegetable Seeds

In order to plant your Vegetable Starts, you have the option to either dig a hole with a shovel or stand over an empty tile of land. Finally, you can access your inventory to plant.

It is not necessary to plant and grow pumpkins, although the Island Designer app on your NookPhone can create dirt tiles on the ground, which adds a wonderful aesthetic touch to your pumpkin farm. Pumpkins can be cultivated on any type of vegetation.

Watering Your Vegetables

After the vegetables have been planted on your island, it is crucial to provide them with consistent watering during their growth, as some will yield additional crops for later harvest.

In the same way as flowers, be on the lookout for shining sparkles on your vegetable plants to indicate that they have been hydrated. If you do not observe any glitter, it is likely that you should re-water the crop.

If a planted Pumpkin Start is watered daily until it is completely grown, the elusive three pumpkins for harvesting will be produced.

Nevertheless, if a pumpkin is not watered frequently enough during the growth process, it may only yield one or two pumpkins rather than the enigmatic three for harvest.

Stages Of Vegetable Growth

Similar to the cultivation of flora in Animal Crossing: New Horizons!, all vegetables undergo four distinct growth stages. Stage 1 corresponds to the initial day of vegetable planting, with subsequent days characterized by growth.

Harvesting Your Vegetables

When the vegetable plants reach the final stage, a substantial harvest (or potentially multiple crops) will emerge from the surface of the plant.

This implies that it is now time to harvest your stunning plants by selecting the Y Button while standing on top of a crop. This will add the vegetable to your inventory, providing you with valuable culinary or crafting materials. Additionally, the plant will be retained for potential future growth.

Do Vegetables Regrow After Harvest?

Certainly, your pumpkins can regenerate, and I believe that other vegetables can as well. Therefore, it is important to refrain from prematurely digging up your plants after harvesting, as they can actually continue to produce additional harvests without the necessity of purchasing new starts.

The pumpkin plant will return to Stage 3 of growth the day following the harvest, and a solitary new pumpkin will be produced on Stage 4 the following day. However, if the plant is watered on the first day following extraction during Stage 4, it will instead generate two new pumpkins.
