Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Guide | Top 10 Best Pictos & Where To Find Them

Throughout your journey in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Pictos can give you powerful passive powers that can make you much better at fighting. There are a lot of them in the first part of the game, but only a few really stand out in terms of how useful and important they are.

In this guide, you'll find the ten best Pictos available in Act One and learn exactly where to obtain each one.

Recovery

Recovery restores 10% of your health at the start of your turn. You can obtain this from the Redwoods Cave marked "danger".

To receive this Picto, you must spend at least 90,000 of the game's in-game currency when visiting this area. Interact with the fountain there, which reveals itself to be a peaceful Nevron.

SOS Shell

SOS Shell automatically applies Shell to your character when their health falls below 50%. You'll find this Picto in the Flying Waters area, right near the first paint cage you come across.

First Strike

First Strike allows the equipped character to play first in battle. Locate this one in the Stone Wave Cliffs, on an upper ledge beside a dead body lying before a monument. Start from the Stone Wave Cliffs rest point and follow the path leading up to the Picto.

Augmented Attack

Augmented Attack increases your base attack damage by 50%. This Picto can be obtained in Spring Meadows after defeating the optional mini-boss Chromatic Lancer. You'll encounter this boss early in the game, near the Grand Meadows rest point.

 

Attack Life Steal

Attack Life Steal lets you recover 15% of your health on a base attack. Find this Picto in the Ancient Sanctuary, hidden in a cave near the Sanctuary Maze rest point. It's located just behind a monster that you must defeat to claim it.

Energizing Start 2

Energizing Start 2 grants you +1 AP at the start of the battle. You can find this Picto in the Ancient Sanctuary, again near the Sanctuary Maze rest point. Take the path nearby to uncover its exact location.

Energizing Start 1

Energizing Start 1 also provides +1 AP on battle start. This one is located on a beach in the overworld map beyond a cluster of rocks. You'll need the character Escape to reach it.

Exposing Attack

Exposing Attack applies the Defenseless status for one turn with your base attack. You can get it from the Gestral vendor Noco.

After you meet Noco shortly after Maelle joins the team during your time in Flying Waters, you must defeat him in a fight. Afterward, he travels to Gestral Village. In Act Two, he eventually joins your party at camp.

Auto Shell

Auto Shell applies Shell for 3 turns at the start of the battle. To obtain this Picto, you need to complete a quest from the White Nevron Hexga in the Stonewave Cliffs. Hexga asks you to find three crystals within the same area.

Once you bring the crystals back, you'll receive the Picto as a reward. If you choose to defeat him instead, you can also claim the Picto from the item he drops.

Burning Mark

Burning Mark allows you to apply Burn when you hit a marked enemy. This Picto is found at the entrance of the Ancient Sanctuary on a lower ledge. Start at the entrance rest point and follow the route downward to reach it.
