Deathless. Tales of Old Rus | Veshtitsa Boss Guide

Game Guide by Arne on  Jan 06, 2025

In Deathless, most bosses have gimmicks that might just lose you the game if overlooked. This applies to all the bosses. And through each playthrough, there is no way to avoid them. Each boss also comes with a retinue of followers. They make up the rest of the enemies you face and die as soon as the boss dies. Depending on what part of your run you face the boss on, you will either have one or three normal enemies to fight.

Veshtitsa Attacks & Abilities

Veshtitsa are crazy ladies who are actually composed of many souls. Unfortunately for them, most of these souls are evil or otherwise demonic. These ghostly beings often dominate Zmoras and use them to commit untold evil. Veshtitsas has three main moves;

  • A ranged attack,
  • A summon that randomly summons an undead creature.
  • An occult ritual that grants one stack of strength to all its allies as well as itself. If an ally is in the dying state, she can also remove them to double the effects.

She has no other abilities except this, making her one of the less complicated bosses to deal with. Despite this, you still have to deal with her allies, of whom there are many. The main ones you’ll have to deal with are the Witch that can put dying allies in cocoons and attempt to turn them into more undead monsters and the Zmora follower of the Veshtitsa.

How to Beat the Veshtitsa

For the Veshtitsa, you should ensure you either deal with all the dying enemies you kill or take out their cocoons once they are put in one. Other than that, using a movement card to either kill the Boroska or Zmora by bringing them out front is a necessity.

Other than that, the Veshtitsa is your main goal. If you don’t focus on her, she will just keep on summoning hordes of monsters. This can also be an advantage since if you have boons or relics that grant you vigor or strength on killing dying enemies, you can basically farm stacks of vigor, then unleash them on the Veshtitsa by bringing her up front using a movement card.

She is one of the weaker bosses and mostly relies on her ability to get summons as well as her initial retinue. However, you shouldn’t waste time, as her occult ritual will continuously add strength every few turns, which can certainly overwhelm your defenses.
