In GRIME II, Molds are abilities left behind by enemies you kill. When you absorb them, you get to use that enemy's attacks as your own. They cost Paint to use, and the right ones can completely change how a fight goes. Knowing which Molds to go after early saves you a lot of time and frustration. This guide tells you exactly which ones are worth hunting down first and where to find the enemies that carry them.

Hardened Halfmade
Before anything else, go to the Mudfalls area and hunt down the Hardened Halfmade. These enemies are tough to bring down, but what you get from them is worth the effort. Once you absorb the Hardened Halfmade Mold, you get a 0.8 second window of invulnerability. Any hit that lands on you during that window triggers a lunge counterattack that scales with Pliability and Strength. It's a strong defensive tool that rewards you for standing your ground instead of running.

Plunging Finger
The Plunging Finger enemy sits in the Temple of Hands, which is close to where you start the game. That makes this Mold one of the first you can realistically go after. When you use it, you take the shape of a large hand-like form that launches enemies upward. Enemies caught in the center of the effect take more damage than those on the edges. It scales with Pliability and Dexterity, so if you're building toward a fast, agile playstyle, this fits well. The one thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't give you any invulnerability while casting, unless you pick up the Cast Evasion Talent separately.
Faceless Charger
If you're building a tankier character, the Faceless Charger Mold is the one to prioritize. You get it by killing eight Faceless Chargers in the Faceless Mountains zone. Using it sends you charging forward with some damage reduction active, and it hits hard. It scales with Pliability and Strength. The cost is two Paint charges per use, which is higher than most, but it's built for the moments when you're surrounded and need to break through a group fast. It handles crowds better than most other Molds available at this stage.

Forged Broken
The Forged Broken Mold works best if you're using ranged weapons. Its spring attack puts distance between you and whoever you're fighting, which pairs naturally with weapons that need space to be effective.
