Selecting the correct base location in Grounded 2 can significantly impact your survival experience.
Whether you're playing solo or with a team, your base placement affects resource availability, defensive capabilities, and overall mobility.
Three key early game base locations that accommodate various playstyles and group sizes are covered in this guide.

Defensive Solo Player Base
On the border area, close to the Snack Bar, is your first base option. This location offers indestructible wooden structures that protect your rear flank, giving you a natural defensive advantage.
The terrain offers solid protection if you are a solo player who prioritizes security over space.
Resource availability includes Dandelions, Dry Grass, and Normal Grass scattered throughout the area.
Weevils roam around, providing an abundance of food sources. Orb Weavers and Scorpions are found in the area, and they offer functional crafting materials for upgrading equipment.
Below the base area is a cave system that offers additional opportunities for exploration and potential resources.
Regular spawning of clay in the area offers consistent access to this building material. Every day, you can walk to the assigned spawn point to harvest clay.
With only one spawn point available each day, the primary disadvantage is the restricted availability of Acorn. For leather crafting, blueberries must be gathered from longer distances since they are absent from this area.
Additional resources include Sap collection from trees in the area. Roaches, Nymphs, and larger Cockroaches inhabit the lower regions.
Baby Scorpions and Northern Scorpions can be found for part harvesting when needed.
Gnats and Butterflies spawn in this region, making it suitable if you prefer magic-based gameplay.
The butterfly spawns blend into the environment but typically appear in groups of three above the base area.
The location's crown jewel is an Ominant Lab featuring a water source. This eliminates water collection as a survival concern, allowing you to focus entirely on food management.
This feature makes the location particularly valuable for early game survival.

Spacious Group Base Location
Your second base option provides expanded space for team-based gameplay. Located near the Snack Bar and close to a prominent tree, this elevated position offers relatively flat terrain suitable for large construction projects.
The terrain elevation provides natural advantages with expansive grass coverage and abundant Seeds for crafting needs.
Various enemies spawn in the area, including Bombardier Beetles, Mosquitoes, and other diverse creatures, providing steady combat opportunities and resource gathering.
Acorn availability significantly exceeds the first location, with multiple spawn points scattered across the area. You can collect from two nearby spawns plus an additional five spawns on the opposite side of the base location.
Mushrooms grow naturally in the region, supplementing your food options. A water source with Clay deposits sits nearby, providing both hydration and building materials. The proximity to a large tree adds biome diversity and additional resource types.
Blueberry access represents a significant advantage of this location. The Blueberry grove sits close to the base area, requiring minimal travel time for Leather crafting materials.
This proximity saves significant time and reduces travel risks.

Long-Term Starter Base Location
Your third base option serves if you are seeking a permanent early-to-mid game location. The base is situated within a reasonable distance of starting areas, offering long-term viability for extended gameplay.
From the starting area, there is a straightforward and low-risk route to get here. Even though you might run into one mosquito along the way, if you're a new player, the route is still relatively safe.
The location's proximity to the main blueberry farming area is its main advantage. Berry leather is necessary for many pieces of armor, so having easy access to blueberries is beneficial for advancement.
Terrain features include flat building space with natural defensive chokepoints. The geography allows for strategic base design with multiple defensive positions.
Acorns drop regularly around nearby trees, providing a steady resource for collection.
Sap collection remains available from surrounding trees for long-term building projects.
A nearby water area contains Clay deposits and Gnats, Making It a Good Spot for resource gathering. Mosquitoes patrol the water area, requiring caution during early game visits.
The location positions you strategically for future content expansions. When new biomes release, you'll have direct access from this base location without requiring relocation.
This positioning saves time and resources compared to bases in more remote areas.
Larvae may occasionally interfere with resource collection, but they pose minimal threat if you are just starting as a new player.
The base location provides access to most essential resources within a reasonable travel distance, supporting long-term settlement without frequent base moves.
