Grounded 2 Guide | Clay Farming Location

Fast early-game clay locations and how to farm them.

This guide shows two reliable early-game locations to gather Clay in Grounded 2, explains how deposits respawn, and gives simple tips for efficient farming. The following sections describe where to go near the start of the game, what tool is required to mine Clay, and which spots yield the most material for base building and crafting.

Ranger Station (Early-Game Spot)

The first and simplest method is at the Ranger Station near the beginning of the game. After fully unlocking the Ranger Station early on, return to the area and proceed to the left. Move under or over the branch and drop down through the hole to find a small deposit of Clay.

This deposit will respawn after a few days. It does not provide a large quantity, but its convenience makes it ideal for the very beginning of the game.

Nearby Pond Cluster (Best Early Cluster)

Another excellent spot is an area close to the starting zone that contains multiple ponds. This location often features abundant Clay—for example, one pond may contain three deposits and a nearby pond may contain another three, for at least six deposits between the two ponds.

This cluster is one of the best early-game sources found so far and will provide a significant amount of Clay for crafting and base expansion.

Larger Farming Cluster

In addition to the two spots above, Clay appears throughout the world. For quick pickups, the Ranger Station deposit is convenient; for sustained farming, the six-deposit cluster described above is the largest reliably found so far and will net the most Clay. This cluster may currently be the largest in the game and will let you gather a substantial amount of material.

Mining and Pickup

A Level 1 Shovel is required to mine Clay. When a deposit is mined, it breaks apart into multiple small Clay pieces on the ground; pick these up to add Clay to the inventory.
