Grounded 2 Guide | All Key Locations

This guide shows where to find both keys currently available in Grounded 2 early access, what is required to reach them, and where to use them to open the corresponding chests. The instructions are written from the guide's perspective so that you can follow each step directly. All named locations, items, creatures, and rewards are highlighted for quick recognition.

Frostbitten Key — Ice Cream Cart

The Frostbitten Key is located inside the Ice Cream Cart. To reach it, craft a set of Fuzzy Gear that requires Bees and Linggon Berries; the set provides a Chill Reduction bonus that lowers freezing rate and makes exploring the Ice Cream Cart safer. 

Alternatively, bring a stack of Spicy Shards or obtain a Spicy Safety mutation to resist cold, though relying solely on shards will require frequent use if no armour is worn.

Enter the Ice Cream Cart by climbing either the Ice Cream Cone entrance or by climbing up to the left of the cone and then traversing the interior. Assign consumables to a hotkey so they can be used without opening the menu during combat. 

Inside, move toward the group of cone structures, jump to the indicated platform, and use a torch when necessary to light the path. The Frostbitten Key is found on a body within the cart area.

After acquiring the key, climb back toward the other side of the Ice Cream Cart and follow the route that leads past two yellow Popsicles. Climb the Popsicle and the Popsicle Stick, watch for Scorpions, and cross the pipe toward the frozen mechanism. 

A Level Two Omni Hammer is required to break the icicles; breaking them causes a fan blade to spin and opens a secret passage. Drop down into the passage, follow the pipe tunnel, and reach the hidden room where icicles can be obtained from a wave spawn with Scorpions. 

In that room, use a Level Two Omni Shovel to dig up the glowing spot and use the Frostbitten Key to unlock the chest. The chest rewards two Mint Globs.

Sizzling Key — Networking Centre (Final Boss)

The Sizzling Key is obtained as part of the main story quest inside the Networking Centre and is found on the final boss's desk at the top of the area. The key sits alongside Burgle's Head and other items on the desk. Read the recipe found on that desk to discover additional crafting options.

To reach the chest that uses the Sizzling Key, head to the map area on the border between the Picnic Table and Pine Hill. If mounted on an Ant, eat through an obstacle guarding the route; if mounted on an Orb Weaver, jump across the gap; otherwise, consider building across or finding a way on foot. 

Follow the tree route leading to a small rocky area and descend into the hollow where a cap-gun-like round is found. Use a Level Two Omni Shovel to dig up the chest and open it with the Sizzling Key. 

The chest contains two Spicy Globs, which are used to craft the Spicy Colultana weapon; the recipe for the Spicy Colultana is available on the final boss's desk in the Networking Centre.

Required Gear, Tools, and Hazards

Several tools and protective items are required or highly recommended to access these locations safely. The Level Two Omni Hammer is necessary to break icicles blocking the secret passage in the Ice Cream Cart, and the Level Two Omni Shovel is required to dig up both chests. 

Wear B Armour or other protective sets when traversing areas with high Scorpion activity. Bring torches or assign heat-reducing consumables to a hotkey for quick use. When missing ingredients or upgrade requirements, check in-game research and crafting menus for the exact materials needed.

Where to Use Each Key

Use the Frostbitten Key inside the Ice Cream Cart secret room to receive two Mint Globs. Use the Sizzling Key at the dug-up chest near the Picnic Table/Pine Hill border to receive two Spicy Globs and the opportunity to craft the Spicy Colultana if the recipe was collected from the final boss's desk.

Final Notes

Both keys are tied to distinct areas and require specific tools and preparations. The Frostbitten Key rewards cold-themed resources while the Sizzling Key yields spicy resources and a weapon recipe. Follow the routes and tool requirements described above to retrieve and use each key effectively.
