In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the Iron Pickaxe and Iron Logging Ax are Power Level 4 tools that grant access to more difficult mining and woodcutting resources. Iron ore in the Stormtouched Highlands marks the beginning of the main progression, which is followed by several processed crafting materials.

Get Iron Bars

Travel to the Stormtouched Highlands and mine Iron Ore. Return to your base and process the ore at a Furnace to obtain Iron Bars. Picking up an Iron Bar unlocks the recipes for the iron tools.

Craft the Iron Logging Ax

At a Blacksmith's Bench, craft the Iron Logging Ax (6 Iron Bars, 4 Oak Logs, and 2 Wool Thread). Wool Thread can be made at a Spinning Wheel using Fleece gathered from sheep or rams.

Prepare Blightwood and Hard Leather

Travel to Bloodblight Swamp and harvest Blightwood Roots. Bringing an Antipoison Potion makes exploring the poisonous area much safer. For Hard Leather, upgrade a Tannery with a Tanner's Kit, then combine 2 Leather with 1 Adhesive. Adhesive can be produced from Swamp Tar.

Craft the Iron Pickaxe

At the Blacksmith's Bench, craft an Iron Pickaxe using 6 Iron Bars, 4 Blightwood, and 2 Hard Leather.

Once you have crafted both iron tools, you will be able to mine harder resources and work your way up to higher-level crafting.
