Game Guide by Sabi on Feb 24, 2025
Nowhere is SIGNALIS' final and most enigmatic location, replete with puzzles requiring careful observation and logical reasoning. One such conundrum is the Empress' Rings puzzle, which requires decoding a mystery paper and precisely arranging rings on an ethereal hand. This guide will lead you through the solution in detail, allowing you to proceed without frustration.
Where to Find the Empress's Rings Puzzle
There is no map in Nowhere, thus you cannot navigate here. But, if this was your last barrier and it's preventing you from continuing with the Empress's Rings Riddle, you have come to the right place.
To find the puzzle:
Find the Pulsating Mass Bridge. It is a tremendous, organic-looking structure.
This bridge is opened by passing through the Symbol Gate, which is north of the classroom save room. After crossing the bridge, you will locate a document named The Empress's Hand. This document contains the key to solving the puzzle.
Understanding The Empress's Hand Document
At first look, The Empress's Hand appears to be a jumble of nonsense, virtually unreadable. However, the text is written in a right-to-left order, which is odd for those inexperienced with such scripts. If you pay close attention, you can see a pattern in the text.
The document's legible portions state the following:
- "On the first day, she was crowned."
- "On the longest day, nothing was done."
- "On the next day, she was wed."
- "On the last day, she took her life."
Based on this, we can conclude:
- The first day is her coronation (crowning).
- The longest day is pointless (nothing was accomplished).
- The following day is dedicated to her wedding.
- The last day marks her death.
Because the riddle includes placing rings on fingers, we must assign these events to specific fingers.
Items Required to Solve the Puzzle
Before you solve the puzzle, make sure you have these three important items:
- Regent's Ring (Symbolizing her Coronation)
- Wedding Ring (representing her wedding)
- The serpent ring symbolizes her death.
- Indeed, each of these rings symbolizes a particular phase in the life of the Empress and ought to be worn on the appropriate finger.
Solving the Puzzle: Assigning the Rings.
Her hand has five fingers, but three will suffice. The rings must be assigned as per the clues on the paper:
Index finger goes the Ring of the Regent
This refers to the day of the Empress's coronation. The other symbol is a black ring with symbols of power and authority. Then, fill in nothing on the middle finger.
This leads us to infer that, on the longest day, nothing was done and hence there is no ring in it.
Ring Finger - Wedding Ring.
Her wedding is the next big event, so the Wedding Ring will be placed.
Little Finger (Last Finger): Serpent Ring
The ultimate event is her death. Hence, the Serpent Ring, which represents betrayal and poison, is placed here. When you place the rings in the exact order, you will earn the Plate of Knowledge, one of the six plates required to proceed through Nowhere.
