In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the quest "A Needle and a Haystack" eventually leads you to a character named Squint. While the specifics of finding Squint are covered in another guide, once located, he offers you a side mission called A Piece of Cake. This quest involves retrieving an artifact from a dangerous cave.

Steps to Complete the Quest

Travel to the Cave Location

The quest marker will guide you to a house.
Enter the house and look for a hole in the floor leading to an underground cave system.

Navigating the Cave

The cave beneath the house contains a massive drop into a lower chamber. Proceed carefully.

Beware of Hostile Creatures

There are at least two tough enemies in the cave. For instance, one creature required two full magazines from the Viper 5 to defeat. Another creature is even more intimidating, so stay alert and well-prepared.

Locate the Artifact

Stick to the left-hand side of the cave as you progress.
You’ll reach an anomalous field similar to the one encountered during the prologue of the game.
Equip your Echo Detector to locate the artifact:
Keyboard Instructions: Hold the Tab and press Q to equip the detector.
Follow the detector's beeping, which intensifies as you get closer.
Once on top of the artifact, it will become visible, allowing you to pick it up.
Exit the Cave

After retrieving the artifact, proceed through the far side of the anomalous field to leave the cave. Avoid returning the way you came, as the initial drop cannot be climbed back up.

Return to Squint

Bring the artifact back to Squint to complete the quest.
At this point, you’ll face a decision regarding the artifact—your choice is up to you.
