In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the Magnetic Cave contains a valuable artifact, but the area is hazardous and requires careful navigation. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you safely retrieve the artifact.
Steps to Retrieve the Artifact
Prepare Before Entering the Cave
- Equip your Echo Detector and Bolt to navigate the anomalies and locate the artifact.
- Be ready to search thoroughly, as there’s useful loot like ammo and supplies scattered throughout the cave.
Progress Through the Cave
- As you move deeper into the cave, watch for debris blocking your path.
- Use your knife to break through the smaller debris. While items like canisters may seem significant, they don’t appear to serve a purpose. Focus on clearing the way forward.
Reaching the Main Room
- Once past the debris, re-equip your bolt and proceed cautiously.
- The artifact will spawn in the main room, though its location is random, and it may not spawn at all during some visits.
Explore Carefully
- The floor in this area is hazardous, and stepping on certain patches will burn you.
- Toss Bolts ahead of you to reveal and deactivate anomalies, reducing the risk of injury.
- Check the Bag on the floor for additional loot, such as grenades and med kits, which might come in handy.
Locate and Retrieve the Artifact
- If the artifact is present, scour the room.
- It may appear on the ground, further inside the room, or even on top of debris.
- Keep your Detector active and follow its beeping for guidance.
- Be prepared to take minor damage, as some areas near the artifact can be dangerous.
For example, I found a Dead Sponge artifact, which offers medium radiation protection and medium bleeding resistance—a useful find.
Artifact Randomness
Note, that the artifacts in this cave are random and may differ between visits. Sometimes, an artifact won’t spawn at all.
By following these steps, you can safely explore the Magnetic Cave and potentially secure a valuable artifact to aid your journey through S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
